Vehicle Graphics As Marketing Tool

Until recently, I had no advertising on my vans. Most of my business is being generated by word of mouth with none or very little advertising.

Recently I purchased a newer ford F 250 cargo van. I did a research on vehicle graphics and was getting more and more convinced that it just makes a whole lot of sense to letter it. I contacted couple of sign shops and decided to go for it.

First, I was personally impressed with how the van looked and made me feel good driving it around, but most importantly it was the effect it had on clients. I have noticed that they look at me more professional from the start. I got a package deal from the sign guy and got hats, t-shirts and sweats. When I get subs or hire help (I have only 1 full time employee) all of them have to wear them on the job sites. I have noticed that my referral rate went up and even got a few calls from people that saw my van parked at the jobsite.

Needless to say, I am very happy with my investment.

I would like to hear experiences and opinions from others on this topic (good or bad).

BTW. I am extremely happy with the service of my sign guy and highly recommend him to anyone in need for any graphics work. He is trying to get his site up www.mardistudios.com If you need his contact info you can PM me for it.

Very nice van.
I myself am a firm believer in vehicle signage. You'll get a mixed bag of comments here as some are for and some against but the proof is in the leads created by it. You'll notice people rubbernecking to read your signs as you are driving around.

Van looks great! My part time boss has a van & a box truck both with company logo, name, ect. Leaves the truck on whichever jobsite we're at as our storage unit. The amount of jobs he gets because of his "billboard" puts every other form of advertising to shame.

Also seeing your name here & there might not mean anything at the moment to some, but when the time comes they need your service, looking through the phone book your company will jump out at them over Joe Bob The Contracor who they never heard of.

It's only when you speed at 100MPH, cut people off, lose your load, catch the jobsite on fire, ect that company names on a vehicle is bad.

Re: Vehicle Graphics As Marketing Tool

I have 4 trucks in my company. All are fully lettered. We keep them reasonably clena nad in good repair.
Firrst off, it makes me proud every time I look at one of my trucks
Second, it's cheap advertising.
Thrid, it creates a good first impression.
I just finished a $10000 job for a customer who got our website off one of our trucks on the highway. When she called, she commented on how clena and professional the truck looked (it's an 05 Ford F-350). She is thrilled with the job and now wants a kitchen remodel!
The $200 I spent to letter the truck was certainly worth every penny.
I'll wind up making 3000% profit on that $200 with just one customer.

Very nice van--did you come up with the design?
Yeah, your topic is a no brainer--logo's bring work...when I see a van with ladders on top and the inside filled to the back window and no logo...I laugh a little inside because no one knows who they are and have no way of finding out Works for me...I have my van logo'ed, I have shirts, and yard signs. I am my company, so for me it's even more important to have my name all over everything since it's just me

Sometimes I think about adding the JWP logo (the one in my avatar) to my car, but I'm worried people will call the shop screaming about me speeding lol

so true

It takes a person an average of 17 times to see your name before they remember it. Why not help them see it more and remember it more?

If you are doing residential work, you need to market and advertise every chance you get. Word of mouth will make you a living, but advertising will make you a good life.

Good luck.

CCCC - are you targeting Jewish customers? I ask simply because of the "C"s font. It looks like a Hebrew C. Just something I noticed...

I used to have my van wrapped, it was good. However, ever since I bought my new truck, I've been hesitant to wrap it. Its a nice clean looking truck, and I figure that it goes good with my referal only system.

I may wrap it again sometime in the future, who knows?

I have people pull up to me where ever I am stopped and make requests. I went reflective since we are often going to and from work at dark and it also provides a good safety factor. How would you like to be the person that said he did'nt see this?

I thought that same thing, but thought it was just me because I grew up in Skokie.

I saw a post on this forum about wraps before and someone was talking about how you could later remove it and the vehicle will look like new (I'm paraphrasing). I thought I would add that this is true if you wrap the entire vehicle, if you do a partial wrap when you remove it you will clearly see the outline of the wrap, buffing the paint help but it's still quite noticeable. Something to think about if you're planning to wrap a personal vehicle or trying to decide if you should do a complete wrap.

The pics look great, really makes your vehicles stand out and give the company a professional look.

I'm thinking about doing my truck. I've had work for 15 years and this is the 1st winter I've been slow. Maybe a sign of the times, and tomorrow the phone will ring.

I think it looks professional, but at the same time an instant target if there are accidents.

I gave directions, but design was done by Mardi Studios. They did my van, t-shirts, hats and hooded sweats.

No I am not Jewish and do not taget the Jewish community.

I am Serbian and the letter is from our alfabet. Owner of Mardi Studios is a Serb and he had the font I wanted for my logo.

Thanks for the compliments I am very happy with it too
