I wasn't implying that twitter invented the term. I didn't see which part you were referring to on either of those pages.

If you search "fail whale" on google you will see the whole story.

Re: Twitter

Twitters constant updates and reminders and tweets are annoying. I tried it for a week and thought it was invented by the Devil.

Who the hell has time to follow up with something like that. Its a waste and unproductive.

as if texting wasn't bad enough. Social communication has been reduced to a flurry of incomplete sentences, half thoughts, Mindless wanderings, And sharing with strangers what your stool looked like before you flushed the toilet this morning.

A darker brown than usual, I've been eating lots of fiber and more beans lately for my prostate.

Re: Twitter

Twitter can be what you make of it and that goes for any of the social media platforms. If you just make an account to be there, it's like you're hardly there, almost like a corpse. If you want to be successful then you have to make the effort to find the right people to network with (realtors is a good idea, they can possibly recommend you to someone who wants to sell a home but needs to make some upgrades first to help it sell). It helps enhance your presence and your brand. But then again it's effectiveness for business depends how much of your local community is on each social media platform. If you're the only one doing it within a radius of 50 miles then you probably will still make some worthwhile connections, but nothing that will bring in business. What's working for one person shouldn't be expected to work the same for someone who works and lives in a different demographical area. We each have to be experts in our own local markets, research what the locals are into, where they hang out online, and target them there. Just as an example... for instant messaging most of my friends in the U.S. use the AIM service while most of my European friends are on Yahoo and MSN.

Actually, Twitter uses a "nofollow" attribute to links posted, thus having Google ignore that link.
Facebook does the same.

Re: Twitter

Definitely, that is a great example of how to use your twitter account! Networking with others in your industry and other industries, its so easy to find people in your area and professionals and then to inner act with them, create a relationship. Please don't go on twitter just talking about yourself and your services, be a person and then when certain opportunities arise or people ask then you can be avaiable to offer your services.

Re: Twitter

Well at least we can agree that twitter isn't going anywhere for awhile, and at least for the forseeable future is going to grow much more. I (and a million others) got a update from John McCain about his son jacks graduation, that's Cool!

Re: Twitter

it's not like clearing your email of spam, it's more like looking at the stock market crawl on a tv screen, you only care when you see something that you have an interest in.

That's because you have no stock investments.
