Targeting Remodels

I am interested in finding more remodel work for the winter until the weather changes and I start getting into more masonry.I have built numerous new homes but have always tried to stay away from remodeling just because of some of the head aches I have heard about but it is winter and you have to do what you have to do ,so what I was woundering is.....are door hangers and local news paper ads some of the best ways to find that kind of work in your oppinion?I have done small #s of hangers in the past and got a descent response but have targeted mostly newer subdivisions and 4 star homes that look as though they have room to expand. what age of homes and types of neighborhoods hold the best yield?

Re: Targeting Remodels

do you really have to ask what age of home or types of neighborhoods? just drive around and look for the type of work you want then get out of your car when you see a need and asked the H O whats up! its thats simple, now to look professional at it there are a few things you can do different but leave that to us professional remodelers!

Re: Targeting Remodels

well vinylguy,I see you are one of those guys on this site that like to put down people when they are a little unsure of something or are asking a lagitimate question in hopes that someone that doesn't think there sh%t don't stink will answer them.I don't need to ask anything....I am doing ok by myself but I just wanted to see what other people thought would be a good demographic to target.Like many people on this site we aren't asking someone to give us 1-2-3 answers on how to run our buiseness ,just a little insight from others in our trades or share thoughts.I hope that you have better people skills in your own buiseness than you have shown to me,and next time that you want to answer someone asking a simple question with some holier than though bull .....don't!

It amazes me to see how thin skinned
some in this business can be.
Always thought that we had to be pretty tough
to survive in construction.
How can folks get so wound up
over off-hand comments from imaginary people?
