I wouldn't do it...

I would ask for a regular text link to your real site that you control.

seconded.

Those sites are overpriced and not well done. You'll get 5x the bang for the buck independently. Call one of the companies that advertise here, or if you're on a tight budget, call the local vocational school and see if they teach web page design - they may have a student that wants to make some money.

Pretty much everyones website is exactly the same with different data. Kinda lame if you ask me. Get your own site. Own YOUR name.

Re: At&t Yellowpages Web Design

We did between 700-800k in sales (Average sale $5,600) last year and most of our leads came through one of the various websites that I own.

If you build it they will not come, not at all like field of dreams. I describe a website like a magazine because people often have a hard time grasping what it is and how it works. Think of a basic website like a brochure, some web designers even call it "brochure-ware". SO let's say you go out and print up 50,000 brochures... That's the web design.

What do you do with those 50,000 brochures? You've got to get them to people, that's the search engines. Your site has to be built in such a way that it will come up "organically" for the very popular key words. In addition there are other strategies like pay per click which will allow you to get even more traffic to your site, meaning more visitors... if you've got the money since you Pay Per Click.

Then there is hosting, and that is the fees you pay to keep your site up and active 24/7 on the internet. I call that postage.

So there are the 3 components brokoen down into a nutshell of a website.

Grumpy's right. And you don't want to GIVE YOUR name to somebody else. It will be their's, not yours.

Matter of fact, go to godaddy.com right now and out YOUR name right now. Then, worry about what you'll do with it.

Re: At&t Yellowpages Web Design

Def. have your own site done by a designer. Don't go to the yellow pages, etc. I work for an advertising agency and have done a few websites. It was funny when we started our remodeling business...the yellowbook and similar places would offer us a website for a fee and what I seen looked like crap. I was not impressed. I finally got our site done. It's simple shows what it needs to. check it out. We have had it up for 3 weeks and have had 4 calls. Not to bad. Plus I got a few more website jobs myself off of it.

the address is...yockeyremodeling.com
