Superpages Click Fraud?
For over a year, i have had a Superpages online yellow page account. It wasn't very successful but not expensive either. Its a pay per click plan. Normally I would get a few clicks a month and it would cost me only a few bucks. I would occasionally get a call from someone who mentioned they found me on Superpages.
Recently, I have been getting a lot of clicks. So many that my $100 limit has been hit and my ad turned off. No increase in phone calls though. As far as I know, Superpages has delivered one lead to me this month. So I am thinking... Competing contractors clicking on my listing until it disappears? Something else nefarious going on? Anyone here use Superpages and have something similar happen? |

Re: Superpages Click Fraud?
I noticed exactly the same thing. Also, I have Google Analytics that keeps count of hits on my website. They were nothing like what Superpages claimed to have sent. This seems to me like a clear case of fraud. Maybe we need a class action lawsuit?

While you can easily track the general geographic location of a person who clicks on your site, think about the companies that sell products nationwide and internationally, and think about the profit that can be (is) made from this fraud. I spent about a thousand dollars on pay-per-click and did not get one lead. Then, everyone wants me to think you I can get some (more) leads with better key words. How much better can the key words get! "Don't believe anything you hear and only 2% of what you actually see" I don't think other contractors have the time nor patience to click on your site to put you over your limit. The problem is people clicking on your site are looking for thousands of things other than your specific service. Many people use the internet for research and I get a lot of universities worldwide that are looking for bits of information not related to the services I want to sell. For example, a person may want to know something about copper pipe and pay-per-click link appears in their search.
