Street Signs

I am about to order some street signs for my seamless gutter business.

I was wondering what the law states about placing them on public property, say, near stop signs, on street corners and the end of neighborhoods....I see people doing it but was wondering if this is something that could result in a penalty of some sort. A friend of mine places signs at the entrances of major neighborhoods and gets a fair amount of work from them. I would like to do the same. Any information would be helpful. I am in Minnesota.

Thanks.

Ryan

Its different, in every town. I would check with the city, before placing any signs.

Re: Street Signs

Around here we need a zoning permit to put up any sign outdoors...I also see those street signs, however, they don't stay long. People must get a call from the zoning official to remove them.

Not sure about the laws regularizing your signs ......but the law will break in your home and pull their signs off your wall if they can see em ........I could not believe it.

Re: Street Signs

Those signs are the only source of advertising I do for my company, they work like crazy until you start losing them to the volunteers who remove them. I actually bought my own vinyl cutter to make my own signs.

Screen printed signs are less expensive but you usually have to order a lot. I recommend putting them up late at night so no one sees that you are doing it. Expect a call from your municipality if you do it, at some point they will tell you it violates the local sign ordinance.
It's usually not a problem on the outskirts of town or in the rural communities.

I have not heard of any city that willingly allows these signs to be posted. They are usually allowed as temporary signs at the job you are working at, but legally cannot be hung around town.

Re: Street Signs

So would it be worth a few hundred bucks to get 50 or so and hang them up in rural areas? I mean I really don't want to damage my business name or get in legal trouble or anything.
