The world has changed and the old models of doing business are falling by the wayside. (Does anyone use their yellow pages anymore?) Today, it's all about "inbound marketing." In other words, getting your customer to come to you, rather than beating the bushes trying to find them, and talk them into choosing you.

Facebook is a powerful social media, and the 20-somethings and 30-somethings are all over it.

It takes time to build, and daily, persistent effort, but it's also an amazing tool for creating an internet presence.

IMHO, facebook, twitter, etc., are just a piece of the puzzle. A good-looking website that'll pre-sell you and your products is the place to invest some serious dollars.

Re: Social Media

Good Morning Millions

By all means try to learn and implement
as much as you can about FB, Twitter and Linkedin.

One easy way to do so is to stay in the category,
(Marketing and Sales). Do a search and you will
see huge extensive posts on Facebook and Twitter.

Sir Mix-a-lot , and other members in the forum have done a
fabulous job of getting members "off the ground" with both
social medias.

My followers have grown dramatically as a result of their efforts
have started receiving inquiries and bid opportunities as a result.

Again, keep in mind, these are just a couple of pieces of the puzzle.
You won't send your kids to Duke University for 4 years simply by having joined these social media sites, but they do help.

Good Luck
Matt

This is something I have been thinking a lot about. One of the local handyman companies frequently tweets using the #hartford hashtag. I have yet to figure out where the social conversations around home theater occur, but soon as I do, I will most certainly be joining the conversation...

Re: Social Media

Social Media is about going to virtual party and talking to people.
Naturally conversations will emerge like " Hey Bill, what do you do for a living ? " - BE YOURSELF

Re: Social Media

Thanks everyone for your input. Has anyone actually paid for ads on facebook? Or any pay per click in general?

Re: Social Media

We have used Facebook Ads to direct traffic to our website and Facebook Page.

We have gotten some accounts from Facebook, but your best bet is do Google Ad Words.

Twitter we use to be conversational, and help "brand" our services.

YouTube is great so that people can see who you are

Social Media, if done right can be a great tool !
