Social Bookmarking To Get Traffic..

Anyone use Social Bookmarking to try to get traffic to thier website? Some people I know love it, I don't really understand it, I signed up for DIGG, and think Twitter is over hyped

A few months ago I did a profile on MySpace and it definitely worked. I came across a couple of Realtors out here in Miami and a couple of interior designers. Out of that, we've formed a strong working relationship with one of the interior designers and were able to meet more contacts through all of these people. I initially was able to get these people's confidence in our company because they saw what we did recently (both residential and commercial projects). Also, the fact that our refferals were very good also brought people at ease. Plus, the simple fact that we're a serious company and we don't like making people look bad, and us, as a company, be in bad standings with business partners, distributors, and most importantly, the clients.

The key to all of this is being able to devote some time to your profile, in which I wasn't able too. So I opted to delete our profile. However, just today, I found myself doing a profile on BrightFuse and will follow up with a Twitter, Reddit, Digg, LinkedIn, and Facebook profiles. Not to mention, I'm in the process of starting a few blogs. One aimed for homeowners and one aimed for industry professionals such as all of us on this site.

MySpace is definitely not a social bookmarking site.
And it's target market is teens and middle schoolers.

I guess it doesn't hurt to have some info on a site like that, pointing to your website. Just another link in cyberspace.
But I look at a link on MySpace similar to a flyer stapled to a telephone poll.

Twitter seems to be gaining popularity. Especially if you can get Ashton Kutcher to follow you.

I've had a Digg account for over a year now. And not once have I used it. Maybe I should start. It's just Digg is really dedicated to the latest and greatest current events. Unless you did some work at the White House or helped out by volunteering after a disaster, I don't really see much people "digging" your site.

Twitter has been quick easy to use, and I can block all teens and non professionals from following and of course I follow only who I want...I like it.

The biggest benefit from these types of site for us is creating inbound links to our site. The more you have the better for your ranking.

They are time consuming but worth the effort.

Our site is averaging 43% increase in traffic each month since we started SEO campaigns
