Slow Times.. Ideas On Emailing Current Clients..??

Hey all....
Times are tough, as we all know, but instead of waiting for the next customer to contact me, what's wrong with contacting my current clientèle??

Instead of spending money on adverts and such, I'd rather utilize my current customer base, which includes around 50 people or so. I'd like to write MASS EMAIL, but then add a personal touch to it once I address it with a certain customer. The problem is, I just plain suck at writing, not spelling or grammar, but just the art or writing.

I'd just like to know what I should say or NOT say in the email? Any other ideas, past experiences, whatever you guys and gals think...

THANK YOU!!!

Mitch this is easy to do! The main thing to learn is to only talk to one client.
Not the masses.
I have a saying that if you speak from the heart you will always have alot to say! So if you were talking to your best friend about your business what would you say to him.

If you ran into someone on the street and they seen your name on your truck and ask about your company or services how would you answer?

E-mail is the best form of advertising and it is free other than time. Start a newsletter and send once a month or maybe TIPS BY MITCH and talk about around the house things to do .

There is tons of info on the net about this. Just go for it and you will see a major difference with your client base.Good luck

I totally understand what you're saying here. I'm not trying to write to the masses here, so to speak, just my current client base. What i would ideally like to do is to write out a "main body" of the email and then personalize it with every email I send out. They all know what I can do and will not do, that's not the concern, it's getting them to NEED me to come out and get stuff done that was on the back burner for the winter or however long. You know what I mean?
I do like the idea of the newsletter. My accountant, a realtor friend of mine and my good friend who is an insurance agent mail out newsletters every other month or so. I will have to look into that, thank you for bringing that to my attention.

I get a lot of calls for handyman stuff but to be honest My company is not set up for smaller projects. I could try to send some work your way if I can. I usually get 3-4 calls a week with small stuff.

I'd definitely appreciate it. What type of calls for work are you getting? The things I don't do, roofing, siding, masonry, windows. I do minor electrical and plumbing, after that, I will consider anything and if it's beyond me, chances are you are already on it..

It could be just my age showing but I would prefer to work the phone. 50 clients should be easy to cover over a few days.

You can call to:

Let them know their warranty is about to expire. Is there anything I need to know beforehand?

Let them know you've been notified that there will be price increases on certain materials.I know you've been talking about _______ and you could save $$$$$$ by acting now.

It's been 1 month since we ________, just checking to make sure it still meets your expectations.

It's been 6 months since we __________.....

It's been 1 year since we __________.....

Your only limited by your imagination if you start thinking about it.

Another good approach would be to go through your collection of bids you didn't get in the past year. Ask them if they did the job, how it turned out, were they happy with the contractor they did hire.

You past clients and near misses are very apt to remember something entirely different they wanted done because you called.

Good Luck
Dave

Mostly carpentry rough and finish, drywall repairs and painting, porch and deck repair, concrete repair, or sometimes straight hourly handyman for odd stuff that I can't get to for past clients
