Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

I'm getting a bunch of banner ads made for ContractorTalk.com. These banner ads will be used for both people who want to link to our site, and advertising I pay for on other sites.

Anyways, I need some good slogans and tag lines for the banners.
Got any ideas?

These can either be slogans that just stay up on the banner and don't move... or words that flash in and out. Like, Business... Painting... More...
You get the idea.

So, what should I include on these ads?

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

hmmm...I will think about it.

How about "stop talking on the job, and log in here!"

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

Not bad!

How about "where the trades meet" or something like that.
Also, one the just scrolled "Contractor Talk: Business.... Marketing.... Construction... Painting... and More."

Any other ideas?

Thanks...

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

not sure on actual slogans just yet, but I would like it to really spell out what someone can get from this website.
Like being able to share knowledge from people in your field from around the world, coming up with new ideas to help make your work easier and more profitable.
What is this board designed to do? We should have a slogan that spells it out loud and clear right away.

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

Nathan,

While I'm a newbie here, my first impression is that this site is very unique in that it allows all of the trades to discuss and share ideas on common issues. I think you should focus on that aspect.

So I offer the following (stimulated largely by your comments):

Contractors Unite... ContractorTalk.com

More than shop talk... ContractorTalk.com

Where Painters and Plumbers meet... ContractorTalk.com

I think I've desided on "where the trades meet." Do you think of the work "TRADES" when you think of contractors?

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

well, I think of "trades" not "contractors. And I think that is better, because I really am a salesperson in a trade, not a contractor.

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

Why not try a few different ideas and code them so you can track the results? For example, use a splash page for each ad and track the traffic to that page.

In another post you asked about CCN. One thing I learned from their Marketing MasterMind sessions was to track your marketing. It's not always easy, but if you can track what works you then know how to direct your efforts.

On the other hand, it's good to come up with a slogan/ tag line and market the hell out of it. Even if it's not ideal, it can still become ingrained and that's a good thing.

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

yea, I'm paying someone to make these ads. I didn't want to pay for 5 different ads.

Thats the logic behind it anyways.

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

I posted a quick (and cheap) contest on Sitepoint.com. I'm also paying a banner designer to come up with some as well.

Heres one from sitepoint. I'm not crazy about it but its not bad for the price

Thanks Spectatorz!

Here's another banner... one I paid someone to design. I'm going to ask for some changes though. What do you guys think?

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

Actually, I just didn't like the size of the logo. Also, I wanted to do something else with the list of trades.

I didn't think the guy was that bad. I think it makes the banner stand out more.

Anyone else?

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

Put flooring first

I would like to see different faces to choose from.

Re: Slogans For ContractorTalk.com

No way... we always put flooring last

Here's the final banner.

------------------------------------------------------------------
<td align="center"><a href="http://www.contractortalk.com"><img src="http://www.contractortalk.com/images/banners/ctbanner.gif" border="0"></a></td>
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to be adding a whole LINK TO US page in a about a week but if anyone wants to put one of these banners up and link to us I would appreciate it. Just copy the red code above.

Were trying to get more people to the site and build this community.
