Sales Training

You need to be prepared to eliminate your competition. The best way to do that is to get some sales training. Phil Rea is the best sales trainer that I know of in the home improvement industry.

You might be able to find some of his training videos & audio CD’s on eBay.

Hey Michael,

Do you have any offers for a free pass to one of his seminars coming up in the near future anywhere in the midwest?

I haven't heard from you in a while. I hope that means you have been busy.

Smile Hi Ed

Ed,

I've been busy trying to keep afloat. Homeowners have not been buying very many home improvements in the Detroit area. Many have lost their jobs or they are afraid of loosing their job because the auto industry is doing so bad.

Iv'e been having my worst year in 20 years of being in business.

There are record numbers of foreclosures in Michigan. Most people have not seen a worse eceonomy in Michigan in their lifetime.

How are things going in Chicago or any of the other area's of the country?

By the way Phil Rea started a new training company called R2RAssoc. You might be able to sit in on a free webinar.

Michael,

If you scan my posts from the beginning of summer, I have been having my most challenging year to date.

Previously, I achieved a 52 % closing ratio, but at the beginning of this year, I was only closing at a 12 % rate.

I am just plugging away, but I had the unfortunate occurrence of having the pnemonia on July 5th and the resulting x-rays and CT scan scared the crap out of me by leading me to believe that I had a small cell lung cancer issue. This enlargement of my lymph nodes or glands in my lungs lickily turned out to be a direct result of the viral infection from the pnemonia.

Lately, I have been allowing my new estimator to handle the brunt of the call ins and I have just picked away at the few I choose to look at and have become sharper at closing on my 1st call appointments again. That probably is more due to the leads being of the "Cherry Picked" variety than anything special I have been doing, but good closings still feel good to me.

things are tough alover!

i did jion the r2r program same stuff from phil but feels like home. although he needs to send out cd's after his webinar so we can listen on our way to the appointment. anyways things started way slow here this year but has somewhat rebounded for me one thing i did was up my prices by 10% that keeps me on track to reach my goals and compensates for less leads. another thing is i have done much more shows this year craft shows flea mkts open houses and such this to has helped. also the biggest factor is financing i have gotten pretty creative with that end of the spectrum. i also just outsourced my telemarketing that actually saves me money and produces better results. now my next plan is to hire about 3 more salespeople and make them responsible for about 20% of there own leads. and also make them work the showroom in alternate day shifts this way i can keep the overhead down with secratary pay. and also if your not knocking on doors around your job site than your missing out big time on easy money. also i trust you ask your present customer for referrals? and send letters out to all your past customers this is always good for 2-3 jobs a year hope this helps

Good luck to you VG.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, as I know first hand how the lack of power and knowledge messes with you more emotionally than physically.

Ed

Either of you 2 guys, could you provide a link to that Phil Rhea webinar or CD information.

Thanks.

Does he still put on seminars?

His new website only made mention of a monthly and yearly fee for web broadcasts.

Sorry to butt in..I met Rodney this past fall. He may or may not have closed at 98% but you'll leave believing he did.

Rodney Webb

I listened to Rodney Webb a couple of yrs ago in St. Lois, I've listened all of his CD's from Mastermind and he claims he has a 91% closing ratio.

From articles that I've read his former employers confirm that he is one of the greatest salesmen in the biz. He can sell about 3.4 million per year all by himself.

He's real big on financing, he said about 50% of his customers use financing.

He will not go on an appointment unless both decision makers are there.

Almost everything he says and does is rehearsed and scripted.

I've spoken with him a couple of times on the phone and I believe he is for real.

The question is are you willing to work that hard to be the best that there is?
