Renovating To Save Money

There was a segment on CNN's 'Your bottom line' at 6:45am pacific about using home renovation to reduce costs and increase the value of your home.

If you create a marketing piece with that title it is sure to draw some attention. Maybe send a press release to your local media as well.

Re: Renovating To Save Money

With all the money flowing in to weatherization you can actually take a house and make it net zero (off grid) for almost zero and sometimes profit for your customer. It is a lot of research and time finding all the programs that are in place. They are not the same per state. Just to mention a few of the variables are state incentives, local incentives, county incentives, power company incentives, etc. Some states have mandated the local power companies to reduce their grid usage by x amt per year for x amt of years. For the power companies it is cheaper to reduce customers usage rather than upgrade their own systems to do this.

Some states are actually reimbursing contractors to get in to this type of remodel. For example New Jersey pays for 50% of training and any capital equipment costs associated with expenses involved for a contractor to rebuild the business to do this type of work. New York is 20%. There are many others but they are not always easy to find.
