Question About Google Local Maps

Why is it that when I type in keywords for my area, that I'm not even ranking on the first 10 pages. Google local is very important to any local business IMO. Whats frustrating is, these companies listed don't even have websites, and I can't seem to rank ahead of them. Has anyone figured out how to optimize your site for this? I've done some research on the subject, and unfortunately there isn't much information out there.

Re: Question About Google Local Maps

I'm assuming you are listed in Google local - just checking.

You go into AdWords and create a locally targetted campaign. AdWords will give you the opportunity to create a local ad associated with your listing. Then you can choose whether to have this ad or other ads you create run with the keywords.

Here's how it works. Go to Google and type in the phrase "ocala fence". You'll get some returns that aren't Fences of Distinction, but if you click the link "local results for fence near Ocala, FL", you'll see our local listing, AdWords fashion, at the very top of the returns in the left column. Anyhow, you should. I do.

Re: Question About Google Local Maps

lawndart - have you submitted your listing through Google Local? If not, search on here for the post I did on how to do it. pretty simple.

Order of sites has an algorythm-base to it. From my research, the biggest factor for high ranking is links to your site from other local websites (that have your city name on their site). Logically, if you have 20 local business linking to your site, you would have more value/authority than the next site who has 1.

Lawndart...your site look great, your code is designed to bring the bots back evey 4 days, yet your name is not written on the site other then in on the graphics, attached your name and city and state to the graphics and that will give the bots something to work with.
