Press Release For More Business??

I have a small ad in a newspaper here in denver. I wss thinkg about doing the following.

Doing a press release pertaining to: summer lightining/is your home grounded type release or maybe in the winter a contest for a nintendo wii or something for the oldest electrical service.

My thought is to get in to more homes and drum up some more business.
Thoughts?
thx

It's an excellent idea. Search the web for the way to write a proper press release or article.

Here is a link to a previous discussion we had about press releases, if this helps out at all.

This might be tougher for an electrician but the biggest dividend payer is charity work. Call your local TV stations and newspapers. One of them will pick up the story and send out a reporter.

Re: Press Release For More Business??

step 1 submit press release

step 2 if worthy a press release will be printed

step 3 a great press release will get you interviewed...

we are into pr here, this is publicity not advertising .
community health/safety is the best door opener to get press attention.

providing expert advice to protect the community is a gauranteed interview.
credentials are everything here, I wouldn't submit a release as rays pools, but as a state liceased and nat pool & spa institute certified member, officer and local resident... obviously when reporter crafts the article to further the interviewees credibility, they will mention rays pools bal blah blah...
reporters & editors can smell ulterior motives a mile away... unfortunately there was a pool drowning in out town 2yrs ago... if I crafted a safety & protection release, I'm assured an interview & spike in safety insections & product sale....

a vid game give away won't get ast the editor.

Re: Press Release For More Business??

Google the term "fake news" or Video News Release (VNR). Most of the TV news on local stations are really commercials posing as news. Maybe create a fake news piece like "Is your home safe?????". These manufactured news pieces usually include an interview with a "local contractor" who will inspect your home for free, because he's such a great guy....

Re: Press Release For More Business??

When you re negotiate your ad in the paper, tell them it has been successful but you need more value add. Tell them you will give them a long term contract (3,6months etc) want 30% off rate card price and an editorial about your great company. Telling them that you already have the check printed and will fedex to them, will show that you are serious.

The most important people to a newspaper are not the readers but the advertisers, flex your muscle.

Skip the press releases and put an ad up on craigslist every 3 days or so. In a city the size of Denver you should get more leads than you know what to do with. The only other thing you need is a simple website.
