Re: Porch.com,,,,,,,,,They Use Your Business Name And Redirect Your Calls

As a former Lowe's Installer I would agree that boycotting them is a good idea. This Porch.com scam is only the latest tactic they have taken to destroy the local contractor. I can go on on for pages about what I've witnessed in my 10 year tenure as one of their largest installers. The company is mismanaged and completely incompetent from top to bottom in my opinion. I am calling right now to have my porch.com profile removed....thank you for the heads-up...I had no idea what they were doing with the phone number switch but I tried it and you were right.

BTW: just waited on hold for 10mins then I got disconnected.

For me, Porch sent me a couple/few emails stating they were a fairly new business listing site. I ignored them at first and then thought "why not" and claimed my business that was already bare bones listed there and filled out the profile more. Then I was immediately getting calls from them offering an upgraded listing and left messages about how they work with Lowes, customer referrals into my profile etc....I went back to their site and better realized how they are basically the same as Red Beacon is to Home Depot.
Out of curiosity I tried the contact button on my profile and found that it said they couldn't connect them to me but here are our preferred contractors......so I contacted them to remove my profile, which they did by the next day.....so that promptness is the only good thing I have to say about them.

Does Red Beacon do the same with the phone numbers?

Ah, I really don't know. I was approached by Home Depot to join Red Beacon and declined.
I mainly meant that they are exclusive to each other. I didn't know that at first about Porch, they failed to include that they were tied to Lowes when they first approached me.

Red Beacon seems to be a price control site...

Took a few phone calls and a letter, but was able to get my "listing" removed from porch.com today. Wonder how many other contractors are unaware they are being scammed by this outfit ?

I emailed myself through their site and it went right to my email box, I called myself and my phone rings.

Claim your listings, or not....

My porch number goes to my business line. But if I don't answer, it goes to their switchboard music and no operator ever answers.

Re: Porch.com,,,,,,,,,They Use Your Business Name And Redirect Your Calls

I've seen this time and time again from these scum bag internet turds.

I didn't see my company on there list.
But if just one of you was smart - leave it there, snip copies, etc. etc.

Collect as much information as you can as evidence - then sue them.
For FK sake .. you maybe able to retire afterwards.
Sue them for ruining your business and company profile .. intercepting your clients etc.
Its extortion point blank.

Screw the class action suit - not one of you will gain chit from that - maybe 5 bucks

Strike while the iron is hot and file the papers.

Hell in this day and age you can sue anyone damn near - and you have good cause.

Do you have your own answering machine or voice mail message that is not picking it up?

Yes. But the call went to their music after about three rings.

I just checked for my area and discovered I am not listed. Should I be happy or hurt because they aren't trying to rip me off. :-)

I called the number they have for me again yesterday, and it started ringing my phone this time after a short message saying the call may be recorded...

Just like Mix though, it went back to their system after a few rings... It doesnt give enough time for my answering machine to pick up.

Today, that number is removed from their site, and it goes to a page with my real number but says Im not a verified porch contractor.

Re: Porch.com,,,,,,,,,They Use Your Business Name And Redirect Your Calls

I just signed up for their "preferred contractor" package a week ago. I figured I would give it a month and see if anything comes of it. I will be sure to keep you guys posted of the results.

The number switching seems shady and criminal at least.
