Placemat Ads

Anyone wanna share any info on putting an ad on place mats? Family oriented restaurants for breakfast lunch and dinner. I was offered $250 for approximately 6 months exposure. Any thoughts?

Re: Placemat Ads

Have you ever really looked at, or bought something from a placemat ad?

Yes I do read them as im bored out of my mind waiting for my food. My thoughts are many of these places have the same customers over and over again. They sit there day after day looking at the same menu seeing the same adds maybe i have a catchy logo or slogan. 6 months of seeing the ad, IF they want their house sided down the road maybe maybe my name would pop up in their head??? Anyone??

Re: Placemat Ads

I tried that once, they had a deal going for $99 for six months. I figured what the heck, it was worth a shot. I think I got about seven or eight calls, only two jobs, so I guess in a way with sort of worth it.

The more I thought about it though, and like Patrick said, I usually read the ads because I'm bored. And thinking back on it, if the potential client doesn't have a need for you and your service right at the exact moment he or she reads the ad, your name won't even be a faint memory once the food comes.

From personal experience, I can say honestly that while reading the ads I have thought to myself "Hmmmm, I sould save that ad" or "that's a good deal!" but then never seem to remember once the meal is over.

But you never know, in your area it might be a great tool. I know a cleaning lady here that uses them and she gets great results from it. I had often thought it would be interesting to pretend to be an independent marketing rep and call some of the companies on the placemats to see what the response rate is, especially ones in my trade group.
