Place Mat Advertising

Anyone have any previous experience with place mat ads? I was offered to be the only window and siding contractor on 60,000 place mats for $250 Do people actually read them?

Re: Place Mat Advertising

I read 'em, but then I've also advertised on a few place mats and menus at different restaurants. To this day I've never received a call that I can trace to them, but it is building name recognition, and the # & price you have seems like a heck of a deal. $250 isn't that much to "risk" for a chance to land a job.

Just my .02

People read them. Do you have a vanity number or something simple for them to remember?

I'd jump at that, anything that has high number of ads vs low cost is worth the money spent. Make sure your ad contract makes you exclusive it that's what they are telling you.

I did that for a year, the place mats. Never got a call, but I sure loved to see my name under the gravy spots. Not for or against, it takes only one good job to pay off.

Yes they do, even if they do not think they do...I would be more concerned to the type of clients that read the place matts....if this is your target group then it will be money well spent. Good place to place ads for auto repair, towing, auto detailing, and things related to people on the go with time for a quick lunch or hearty breakfast....You may get a better resonse going to the same dinner and buying 250 dollars worth of breakfasts. A sign on your van. Networking at breakfast is done all the time with the early crowd.

Re: Place Mat Advertising

Being on 60,000 placemats sounds like a wonderful deal at first. But surely that can't be 60,000 simultaneous placemats. IOW, they stick them on a shelf and use some of them, then replace them with others. I'd want to know how many tables the placemats are on at one time.

There's a local restaurant that uses plastic placemats and just cleans them. They've been there for years and most have the advertising worn off. I wonder if I could make them a deal . . .
