It depends upon what you want. What are the choices?

100LB + gloss looks nice. Get a UV coating as well. I am real anal about paper stuff anything that goes out from my business is on the brightest paper and envelopes I can find. Estimates, ref sheets and other stuff in my folder are printed on a laser with 28LB super bright paper. Anything printed by a pro printer is at least 100 LB and full gloss and uv coating.

I do my own on my color laser printer and I use bright white 24#. If you buy the cheap stuff generic brand it's not much better than a 20#. However if you buy a name brand like HP you get a nice paper which won't bleed through.

If you are hiring a professional print comany they should make recomendations and show you samples.

Re: Paper Specs For Brochure Printing

I've seen a few questions about printing and thought I'd pass on a link to my printer. I've used them for business cards and flyers in the past and they are great. Everything I've had printed has been very high quality... and they are fast and cheap. They are the only printer I will use.

They are a bulk printer and run 24hours a day. which means they gang all the jobs together and run them at the same time which saves allot of money.
You can email your job to them and they will ship it back UPS usually with in a week.

The only down side is they have a HUGE minimum printing. I usually get full color front and back business cards (4 over 4)... minimum qty is 5000 cards... but it only cost $99.... so i don't feel too bad throwing away a couple hundred cards!!

Here is the link.... http://americasprinter.com/

Hope that helps.

Nothing less than 80# should be 100# and 4 color process.Choose your colors and always use the same high quailty printer.Hire the best and hire a designer/layout firm for everything you print including newspaper ads.If you were to put all your ads or printing on a wall would it all blend or does it look like a mish/mash of different colors and layout.Do your homework, this is what makes the phone ring and sets you apart from everyone else.Good luck
