Re: Our First Home Show Of 2009....
We stopped doing Home Shows 3 years ago,in the Boston area the crowds got older 60 plus.To many low baller's ,turned into mooch hunt. The old folk's are not worth it for us.
When we did run them did fine with 10x10,was more about people at both and crowds.I never liked the small shows, small crowds and same 3-4 days of time, the Hill Billy shows to the north a lot of people with no teeth or money. Last edited by tin man; 02-04-2009 at 09:40 AM. |

Re: Our First Home Show Of 2009....
The shows have been bad lately, just too many of them. But the big ones still draw the crowds.

Re: Our First Home Show Of 2009....Quote:
I have been preparing for my door-to-door campaign. I ran an ad in the local newspaper and I got a few calls. I ran an ad in the Los Angeles Times for only one day4 and got almost 100 calls. I actually hired three salesmen and I guaranteed them $100 per day each until we get the ball rolling. I terminated one salesman after after about two hours. Hiring these salesmen reminds me of 35 years ago when I hired salesmen and they outsold me about three-to-one and they got two time more than my standard prices. This is like the real estate market when it is a buyer's or seller's market. Right now is a hirer's market. There is a lot of great talent out there. I hired pure salesmen about 30 years ago and I was always impressed with some their talents and ideas. One of my new salesmen gave me some terrific ideas I will write about after we get our campaign rolling. Kitchen cabinets are probably hard to sell door-to-door, but sometimes new salesmen can outsell their bosses and even some applicants come up with some great ideas. Do you solicit builders, installers, wholesalers, and remodelers? |

Re: Our First Home Show Of 2009....
I just got back from design and sales training. I sell to remodelers, homeowners. And installed sales (best for me).
I still will GC some jobs also. Remodelers want low prices, and service. Pick one and its 50% down no matter what. No delivery without the remaining 50%. Homeowners want low prices and information. DIY. No sales yet but it will happen. I can make money selling at Home Depot prices. I work on value rather than price. If its price only they want then I need to educate. Wish I could tell you more, but I finished the truck in November and spent the last couple months taking it easy and getting my plan together. I expect to do well, even in this economy, but time will tell. Right now I got nothing to brag about, but I'm optimistic. Or delusional. Whats the difference?
