Optimizing My Google Adwords Campaign
I have a pretty extensive Adwords campaign that I run for my business. Recently, I have noticed that on my top 3 key words, "Bathroom Remodel" "Kitchen Remodel" and "Remodeling Seattle" I have gone from being listed in the top 3 sponsored links to being around #10. I am looking for any tips anyone has on optimizing my campaign.

Raise your bids for those words a little bit.

Re: Optimizing My Google Adwords Campaign
my bounce rate is at about 50% right now, I am guessing that is because my landing page is my home page. So what you are saying is that I need to create a landing page that reflects the ad verbiage that the potential client clicked on? Then from this page, it would link to my home page?

Re: Optimizing My Google Adwords Campaign
Its important to make sure that the terms you are bidding on also are found on the page of your website that you are pointing to. Google places your ad based on your bid and the keyword relevancy. If you are directing traffic to general landing page consider going directly to a bottom level page with detail about that topic.

Hello Melnyk,
Here is a link to an article I posted in this forum several weeks back. Optimizing your Adwords Campaign is definitely possible! You just need to know where to look first. This article explains some of the most common issues as well as the most concrete way to develop better CTR which helps with your ads rank and bid price. Google Adwords Tips If you have any specific questions about Adwords or how it works just let me know. I'd be happy to help. Good Luck! Carl Sorensen |

Re: Optimizing My Google Adwords Campaign
After looking at your website, the first problem with your bounce rate is the site design. You don't have a google page rank yet (I take it this is a new site) and your Alexa ranking is over 9million (alexa ranks websites world wide).
After only 2mos with my site, I have a PR 3 on google and Alexa ranks me just over 900k worldwide (not bad for a local fence company) which got me on the front page of google for my main keywords. I have been able to cancel my adwords campaign and keep the same traffic saving me $300per mo. The real key is content, other keys are links back to your site (you have none, my site has over 800) and of course there are many other factors in getting your site up in the searches (having keywords in your url is a good one). I would say that the biggest factor for me has been using a content management design for my website. My results have been so good the company that designed my site has hired me as a consultant for helping other contractors rank well with new CMS sites we design. Best of luck to you, Keith |

Re: Optimizing My Google Adwords Campaign
I never understand why people want to "optimize" their paid adwords campaign or other PPC tools.
Why not optimize your website (SEO) to reach the top of list in organic listings? We have absolutely zero pay-per-click campaigns online. For instance, our website, www.cupantileandpaint.com ranks high in search engine SERPs for a number of keywords: #1 for charlotte tile contractor #3 for charlotte bath remodel first page for tile contractor

Re: Optimizing My Google Adwords Campaign
Matt,
My site has climbed enough in organic rankings that I get a couple hits a day from organic search. I also pay for an average of 3 clicks a day from Yahoo and Google. This interenet traffic has netted me zero leads. How many people fill out your info form as a percentage of visitors? |

I don't think its the website. It is the keywords that lead the people to the site. It took like 5 years the get the keywords that work for me

Re: Optimizing My Google Adwords CampaignQuote:
I am CONSTANTLY hit up on 'why' my website is not 'pretty'. I don't want a 'pretty' website, I want one that gives me RESULTS. My suggestion is to create something of PERCEIVED value that you can offer your visitors in order to entice them to give you their contact info. a Free report, a 'remodeling planning guide', an 'remodeling idea collection kit', top (10) ways homeowners get taken advantage of by contractors, Top (10) homeowner frustrations when remodeling, and how we solved them. ANYTHING that will get your prospects to request YOUR information. THEN you can start MONETIZING your web traffic. UNTIL you can show a profit from web traffic. there is NO REASON TO SPEND $1 on ANY SEO, PPC, Links, or any other tactic driving traffic. Once you KNOW that I get a sale of X$ from every Y number of visitors. SO every Visitor I generate will Return me X$ I know how much I can spend for more traffic. Example: Let's say your average sale is $13,000. with a NET profit of 12% or $1560. Let's say you get 10% of your Visitors to give you their contact info. Then you get to provide a quote to 10% of those. and you close 40% of those bids. SO out of 1000 Visitors you get 100 leads, with 10 quotes and 4 jobs. SO 4 jobs x ave profit of $1560 = $6240 SO for every 1000 Visitors you get $6240 in profit so EACH visitor is worth $6.24! All you have to do is plug in YOUR numbers to see where your Value per Visitor is. THEN once you have a Baseline, you can try to improve ANY or ALL of your Conversions.

Re: Optimizing My Google Adwords CampaignQuote:
That's step #1 Next step is getting people to get to your contact page. In my humble opinion of your website I think you need more emphasis on your phone number. Your logo "pops out". And I think right underneath your logo and "serving lancaster county" would be an ideal place to put your phone number. Also, Underneath your pictures I would add a call to action to get people to "learn what we can do for you" and take them to a brief detail of why they should choose you and a reason to fill out your contact form. You should have goals for your website. I would ask myself these questions: What are overall goals of my business? What function does my website serve? How is my website connecting with goals of my business? Who do I want to visit my site? What do I want visitors to do on my site? Which pages do I most want visitors to see? How will I measure the success of this SEO campaign? And as for your query into my own numbers... Between Sep 2 and Oct 2 we recieved 1,998 visitors 168 people made it to our estimate page 46 people filled out our contact form And we recieved 61 phone calls. Google Analytics is a great tool to have for tracking this kind of information. I love how you can set up goals. One of our goals is "getting to contact page". And you can do a "Reverse Goal Path" to see what pages your visitors view before getting to your contact page. Only 14.29% got their directly after our landing page (index.html) Which proves people like to browse around before contacting you. 23.81% (almost a quarter) of people visited our tile samples page before going to our contact page Which is great, because I like people to tell me what they want to see at the estimate. Our internet leads are our greatest closers because they are already half sold.

Re: Optimizing My Google Adwords Campaign
There are several things you have to also take into consideration.
Size of the population you are serving. DC is very small so my numbers won't reflect say a contractor in florida. Also the larger the area you service the greater the competition you will face. What do you sell. A specific trade lets say tile and paint versus a remodeler what are people looking for specifically. That may also reduce or increase your leads depending on the situation. What keywords are you using. My biggest performing keyword/phrase is "small bathroom remodeler DC" few people use this specific keyword so my ctr. is vary high for this phrase. There are lots of variables to condsider |
