Newspaper Inserts?
I am thinking about doing the newspaper insert idea and I was woundering what everyone thought of it?It seems as though it is a relatively cheap form of advertising and the distrabution is great. My only concern is that people might just through away my insert without looking at it along with the usual sale ads that come with the paper.Have any of you tried it?

Re: Newspaper Inserts?
It depends on the newspaper, and where in the paper your insert will actually be stuffed. If you advertise in a major market paper you'll likely get a better response than you would from a small-town paper, but it will also cost a lot more. Also, if they stick your flyer in the middle of the classifieds, not as many people will see it as if they stuffed it in the main section.

Re: Newspaper Inserts?
i tried to work a paper route once. no one that worked routes got out the door without stuffing ads themselves. No one specified any specific locations in the papers for certain ads and many times, 1..2.. or 4 fliers (or whatever) would get put into each paper. There were no rules, except, get them in, load up and haul a**. It was all done in mad rush mode, even the driving... I wasn't very familiar with the town, so speeding around at 430am in the dark didn't last long.
Just some insight on how it works some places We do have a "Value-Pack" coupon envelope that is circulated through the mail...there are 10-15 ads within for local companies and service providers...ususally offering some kind of discount...I always check it out to see what new or who's offering specials (checkin competition mainly). I've never invested in these but personally, I would call them before I used a flier from the newspaper.. (all those inserts get set aside before I read because they usually end up falling everywhere)Then again... If your flier looks professional.. maybe I would.

Re: Newspaper Inserts?
we do a newspaper insert once a month in our area! both of our local newspapers have decent rates. what we use is a heavy stock with a call to action now ad on it both front and back. then we also have a perforatted mail in card on the flyer with our return address and postage pd. seems to work real well for us. but it is not something you only want to do once. i would set up to try this atleast four xs maybe every othe rweek or something like that never a good idea to do a once and done ad never get good response if any in my opionon.
hope this helps |

Re: Newspaper Inserts?
Inserts are a great way to advertise as long as your piece is done right and has a call to action.[direct response marketing]but you must set it up on remote control and let it run.
Do 2 different inserts with different headlines and products and see which pulls the best[test, test, test]than use the one that works the best. In the lower right hand corner put a number so you can track easy. Do not be afraid to mix it up and change quickly if a ad does not pull. Always, always get a graphics designer to do your insert lay out.It is well money spent.Let me know and I will lend you mine as long as you give her back. Good luck |

Re: Newspaper Inserts?
We found these to be very high cost lead 700.00 to 800.00 per lead.Tend to be shoppers like yellow page leads.

Re: Newspaper Inserts?
If you do an ad make sure you don't pack it full of so much information that the reader gets overwhelmed...I am an Art Director at an ad agency and have few clients who think that, well the best way I can describe it is "like stuffing 20lbs of crap into a 10lb bag" is the best way to do the ad. It gets overwhelming and customers usually just skim the ads. So you want visuals, headlines, call to actions that catch the eye right away. So keep it simple. I do alot of design work, so if you need a critique let me know, I would be glad to view the ad. Another note...we have had a few clients cut back on newspaper advertising and do more web banner advertising on the newpaper sites. They are getting more response from the web.
