New 30% Window Installation Tax Credit

So how is everybody going to exploit the 30% credit (up to $1500.00) for new window installations? Anybody got a link to the law and how to make it work for us and for the consumer?

The lowest bidder always delivers the lowest quality work and the highest bidder always delivers the highest quality work?

Great another know-it-all who can only be negative instead of adding something useful to the discussion.

I checked out the link to the 10% or $200.00. That's worthless. The buzz I heard last week was that there was a new credit in the stimulus package Obama passed that was 30% on install up to $1500.00. I checked on the whitehouse.gov and didn't see anything on it.

First of all, Obama hasn't passed anything yet. It is expected that he will sign it into law tomorrow but has not done so yet.

Secondly...what are you saying. You can't find it on whitehouse.gov. It's got to be there because Obama promised this country when he was campaigning that his adminstration would provide us all with a transparent government and actually said he would post all bills on the whitehouse website for a period of no less than 1 week before any bill would be signed into law so that public would have the opportunity to weigh in on the issues of this country. If it's not there then that would mean that the mighty Obama lied to us. That can't be. It's got to be there.

What a shocker, he's a liar just like the rest of them. But at least we get to continue watching him parade around the coutry with his dog and pony show covering his butt in case this thing doesn't end up as he hopes.

Sorry got off on a little rant there. Hey if anyone here takes the time to read through this 1,100 page stimulous bill and can find an actual anything about this type of tax credit let me know. Otherwise it's all a bunch of worthless rumors, which no one here will ever see any benefit from. But don't worry we will all be getting the tax bill to pay this money back in a couple of years.

Re: New 30% Window Installation Tax Credit

The actual stimulus bill is listed on that doorandwindowplus blog page near the bottom. Dont have 15 posts so I can't post link. Link is above.

Thanks for checking out my blog. I got 200 hits yesterday. Blog drives alot of business to me. Some people actually want to learn something and not just go with the cheapest price.

NEW STANDARD for Window Tax Credit - NOT ENERGY STAR anymore.

Requirements are windows/doors need to have a u-factor at 0.30 or below and SHGC at 0.30 or below to earn the 30% Tax Credit up to $1500. Looks like the $200 window/$500 door tax credit is now part of this but the windows/doors need to meet new requirements.

How has the new Stimulus bill affected the tax credits for energy efficient home improvements?

On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed a stimulus bill (The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) that made some significant changes to the energy efficiency tax credits. The highlights are:
  • The tax credits that were previously effective for 2009, have been extended to 2010 as well.
  • The tax credit has been raised from 10% to 30%.
  • The tax credits that were for a specific dollar amount (ex $300 for a CAC), have been converted to 30% of the cost.
  • The maximum credit has been raised from $500 to $1500 for the two years (2009–2010). However, some improvements such as geothermal heat pumps, solar water heaters, and solar panels are not subject to the $1,500 maximum.
  • The $200 cap on windows has been removed.

Re: New 30% Window Installation Tax Credit

So If you do $6,000 in windows, you can only get credit for $1500.00 max not $200.00 The 30% would be $1800.00 and exceeds the max.

So for the sake of the client separate the actual window materials from other materials & labor so they benefit? Just dont show mark-ups, list as Cost of goods or something? I did this back in 06 but dont remember the whole procedure.

Re: New 30% Window Installation Tax Credit

Seems this Tax Credit is making homeowners think about their windows. I am getting alot more leads then I was last month. A few people buying.
Here is my blog with the details for the $1,500 tax credit and requirements. I will also be posting which window brands qualify and which ones don't. Alot of windows don't qualify for the Tax Credit.
