Neighborhood Discounts

So I went online and got a list of every neighborhood association presidents in my city, I want to mail them flyers. I was thinking of offering them discounts depending on how many people in their neighborhood wanted painting done. Or maybe I could offer to pay them to allow me to advertise in their neighborhood news letter. The idea doesnt seem too bad to me but I am wondering what would be the best way to approach them and with what kinda deal. I mean the discount thing is kinda stupid really because I have no way of proving to them that they are getting a discount. Anybody else ever try this angle or something similar to get some leads?

Re: Neighborhood Discounts

I looked into placing an ad with a magizine that goes out to condo owners. For my area of the country it goes out to MA, ME, NH and VT if I covered all 4 states the price would of been more than fair.

Re: Neighborhood Discounts

It is all a matter of perception by the home owner.

The driveway coaters and pavers have made the local discount very questionable, even if it is a good price.

I am sure the local association presidents/associations will allow you to solicit if you are licensed and bonded. It makes them look like they are doing something for the ownwers.

Re: Neighborhood Discounts

This is how I bought my roof 2 years ago. I believe it was a mailer the company sent out. I didn't respond to it although I was in the market, and had got 2 prices already(between 10k to 12k). My neighbors did respond to the mailer!!, I came home from the office and there were 3 jobs in progress on my street alone, I noticed the same company name on all the trucks.

One of their guys came over and said they were giving a "Neighborhood Discount" if I get on board in such and such time frame.
I decided to get a price and it was $8400, my 1st thought on this sort of thing is always how come they are so much lower?
Being in the business I knew roughly what the material cost.

I really had no worries because I could see the work they were doing right there across the street and these guys were roofing animals(best advertising is seeing quality work happen right across the street).

I bought, they knocked the job out that saturday and did a great job.

I later found out they did about 20 jobs in a 5 block radius with that mailer. Not bad at all..

We use this method when canvassing, all our team leaders get the current installs going on daily, then map out to work around those jobs.
We mention the neighbors name where we are working and encourage the home owner to have a look at our work. "It's a free estimate Mrs Jones, you will have it for future reference if and when your ready to purchase."

Remember when doing tight radius neighborhood work to keep your pricing congruent, or it could get ugly..

Re: Neighborhood Discounts

We install granite countertops..do you guys have any ideas how we could make this approach work for something that is strictly inside a home and not neccesarily as visible to the neighbors?

Re: Neighborhood Discounts

Dale,

Do you use yard signs?
Are your trucks lettered?

Close proximity marketing in the area you are working in with door hangers or flyers works well.
