Need Your Opinion/advice. I'm Being Offered 2 Jobs I Have Not Accepted Either Yet!

2 companies are offering me a job

nationdry DOT com
waterproofing & mold remediation (basments) sales offering $40K plus 6% commission on an avg. $10,000 sale 2 leads a day

homeremodelersgroup DOT COM
top #12 in sales volume. Full service company. Draw for the first 105 days. 6-12% on certain packages offered by Alside. The premium is 12% 2 leads a day

Windows & Siding sales division will be selling from vendors by Alside, Pella.
Straight commission. Commissions advance 50% during the draw period.

I'm a Real Estate sales agent & Life insurance sales. I guess what I"m trying to do is go into a sell with the least learning curve and make good money with a flexible schedule. What would you do in my case. 26. 2 years right out of college. I hate corporate america(specialized labor)

Need your advice thanks fellas.
Was wondering also if there was a downfall of just having alside opposed to having other product lines.

You are too diversified. You are selling life insurance and real estate and now want to sell home improvements at the same time? You will not be successful at anything if you don't focus.

Least learning curve? Windows. Then again I don't know much about basement water proofing, and I know mold remediation is a science. However windows is also probably the most competitive. Windows are a crazy business.

Best thing you could do to fullfil your wishes is start playing the lottery.

Once you figure out life doesn't work that way, knuckle down and go to work. All the crap you are worrying about is irrelevant. How was the work environment? How was the person you will report directly too? Did you meet any of the other salesman? What was your gut reaction to each place? Did you run the numbers? Cut them in half, can you live on that number for 9 months?

If you become a good salesperson the only thing that matters is your pay plan and your boss, everything else will be irrelevant. Best thing you can do is jump in and refuse to be meidocre, find out who the top seller is in the company and get to know him/her and do everything they do. Once you have mastered your skills you can go anywhere and make very good money.

Wanting everything figured out and everything perfect before you jump is a nice plan, but it sounds a lot more like a realtor or an insurance guy's idea of priorities than what a salesman would be worried about.

Cream rises to the top. Show me an easy market and you'll be showing me a bunch of mediocre sales people. Show me a competitve market and you be showing me some great sales people.

100% agree, which is why I no longer PUSH my windows services except to referrals and past customers. The window industry is much like they used car industry with gimicks and high pressure. I do not operate like that, which is why it's hard to compete as an honest business person.

I'd like to add one more component that seems to separate the men from the boys when it comes to selling, and that is "PASSION".

If you truly love your job, believe in your company and/or product and can add that to all the other things that make a salesperson 'great', you, too, will be GREAT!

What are you passionate about?

Real Estate?
Insurance?
Home Improvement?

Figure out what you WANT to do and BE GREAT!
