Need Trade/home Show Booth Design Ideas/furniture

For those that do trade/home shows... What do you use for booth design / furniture / set ups? Are there any companies that sell basic "kit" set ups that could be used in a variety of situations and allow for the exhibitor to attach their own graphics and marketing material to these kit set ups?

Would appreciate any and all info; thinking of doing a show but know I need more than a backboard and table to look respectable.

Many Thanks!

Re: Need Trade/home Show Booth Design Ideas/furniture

Most of the trades build their own booths and use a variety of signs and banners. I think the best booths are those that can be set up and torn down in less than 15 minutes. Otherwise, you lose a day of work setting up up your booth and taking it down. Also, you need to consider storage space if your booth has large walls, tables, etc.

I built this booth so the signs fit inside the table cabinet base (hard to see in the picture) and the back side of the base has 6 wheels so I can roll it onto a trailer. I built a wood box to hold the candy tube because the tube cost $400 and it is easy to scratch and crack. Everything fits easily into a 4 x 8 foot trailer.

Anyone else do shows?

I've been browsing a few sites and found this nice example: http://www.s2imaging.com/image/plp/Displa45.jpg but that sells for $3k and doesn't seem worth it IMO. Must be a cheaper way of achieving that.

Re: Need Trade/home Show Booth Design Ideas/furniture

I made this one about 2 months ago, spent about 2k. It's made with 5- 24"x84" panels 2x4 construction with 1/2" ply. I covered them with VELTEX(http://www.textol.com/t_veltex.asp) This way I can move pictures and/or displays.
I used 2x8 and 2x6 for the top. wood columns, bead board and some other moldings. It is a 10x8 booth.
On the small table I used one of the $100 picture frames to show a loop of lots of jobs, not just the good pics but pics during construction, that way people can see how neat & clean we are, etc.
The picture are from my sony camera, brought them to KINKO's and for less then $300 I got 10 / 18x24 nicely mounted pics.

I can set it up in about two hrs with two men
Take it down in about 45 min.

Check out eBay. Just type (Trade Show) in the search box. I bought one on there last year for a decent price. Something like this one.

pcplumber and sdc.... those look like successful displays, congrats on your setups

windowbiz... thanks a lot for that suggestion, dunno why I didn't think to check ebay, should be a no brainer. That is quite a nice price for such a set up! What did you use for graphics?

This looks great

Can you share your results? How many leads/appointments/sales did you get from the show?

Thanks

Well we got about what I thought were 28 decent leads, after follow up, (calls to weed out tire kickers, and people that never return repeated calls and e-mails etc.) we narrowed it down to 15 appointments.
So far;

Sold one small (condo) kitchen, when I say small, 7 boxes,(total) "L" shaped counter 54"x 64", but it's a sale (and already completed)

Lost three over price. People looking for and got lowball quotes.

Two I refused to even give a quote, one looking to add to existing deck, sister to joist, make it longer, would not listen to reason

Two attic conversions, one of them was attic ($30k) and a custom bath (39K)

Need trade/home show booth design ideas/furniture-ingham-bath-pic-2.jpg

I made the sales call, measured, when home designed it, quoted it wrote it up, made an appointment for meeting, I got to his house, nice proposal in hand, he would not even let me in, said his wife and daughter were sick, said he will call to reschedule, never did and will not answer my calls...WTF

Other attic conversion, $750K house, I asked about budget, threw numbers at them, they said it was fine. I drew it up, quoted it, (33K) they were expecting $10K said they will get their friend to do it, he is after all an electrition.

One convert 1/2 bath on first floor to full bath with custom tile shower (soooo close, this one I want, I'm working it)

One 3 season room very close as well

One big addition, 48x28, 3 car garage under, master bedroom and bath above, remodel kitchen, 24x24 deck on back and a 12x14 screen room. This person had plans done by an architect, saved me from going through the design phase, and means he is serious buyer, I hope
Meeting for the second time today at 12:00, wish me luck.

Also doing the HBRANH, State Home Show, this weekend. Starts today at 1:00. I'll fill you in on Monday.(hopefully I will not have the time, )

Re: Need Trade/home Show Booth Design Ideas/furniture

I had 3 leads from a home show 2 weeks ago, one appointment for a 30K kitchen, one too far away, one doesn't have the budget. Those were my solid leads.
I am planning another show, but the leads aren't as solid as in the past.
I expect that I will be doing fewer shows as they seem to be less effective as far as finding buyers.
I heard a lot of "were waiting" type of answers.

Silvertree, maybe the show visitors didn't have enough snowmobile parking spots. You may have to wait for a show when its a bit warmer.
