My Service Magic Stats

Last year I used service magic on a very limited basis. I recieved about 3 leads a month from them from June-October.

I had a total of 20 leads.

I met with 6 of the homeowners
Sold 3 jobs
3 of the 20 leads were replacement leads

Total spent- $595
Total amount of contracts $7850

It was a lot of work to sell 3 jobs. With all the effort that went into trying to get a hold of the customers. I don't think I could handle qualifying more than 3 service magic leads a month. I will however continue spending $100 a month with them this year & see what the numbers look at the end of the year.

I'm about to try another company that gives you exclusive leads...meaning, nobody else gets them, and I hear they are much better qualified. Bout done with SM..

Unitedhomeimprovement.com is the place...but I'm not sure I want to just spend money and count on someone else to provide the type of customer I'm looking for. I doubt anyone has that ability judging by the way SM has done. They also have a yearly fee (yak), and some bs contract they sent me to sign. My interest in lead services has almost completely dwindled away.

Why do you need the middle man?
These guys are competing in the same places you are, to get the leads
you want and sell them back to you. We never had good luck with any
here in Toronto, for the same reasons everyone mentions.
I realize some people had some luck, great.
The frontlines are the search engines. Paid or otherwise.
Our leads are pouring in non stop. Some are what I call
enquiries but most of them are decent requests for estimates.
It's been really good all winter but it's almost crazy now.
We should be getting almost 100 visitors a day at any time now.
All for the price of a good sized Yellow Pages add.
Work the search engines, it's worth it.

One of my customers put me on Angies list and with in a week I got my first lead from them. I didn't even know I was on the list until I got the call.

Well, I was lured orignally by the ease of not having to do anything to generate leads, but I've come the realization that none of these services can provide me the quality of leads my business model requires. The problem I see is that they will sell anything that nibbles. I am looking for people who can afford to hire a thorough, competent professional. Not customers who can't afford anything but the lowest bidder because he's bidding a 3000sq ft exterior for $800!

I'm about to put out a bunch of door hangers, and I'm working towards getting my website to work for me. I'm currently looking at replacing lead services with pay per click to drive traffic to my site as well....

Re: My Service Magic Stats

Everybody here made me really leery about my decision to join Service Magic back in January.

However, to date, I cannot complain.

I've had 6 leads.
Sold at least 2.
Spent $130.
Received over $4000.

I'll be staying on if this rate of success continues. Service Magic has been a nice way to get some supplemental income.
