My New Marketing Vehicle

Thinking out the box got me in a box.
Here is my traveling kitchen display, I debuted at a home show this weekend.
I offer cabinets; semi custom and custom, tops, lighting, flooring, design etc all from the truck. I have over 120 color and woods to choose from, many door styles on and on. I make the homeowners an expresso from the built in Meile expresso machine. On home visits I operate from a generator on the tailgate. Laptop has design software and we design on the spot after making some selections.
The women love the truck, unfortunately the show was slow. I am marketing the vehicle by having open house in some upscale grocery store and bank parking lots.
Excuse the quality of the photos, but you get the idea.

Sweet - glad to see you posted the pics.
Generator??? How about an inverter with a battery bank - hard to talk over the noise. Plug it in overnight to charge the batteries or hook up a solar charger.
Laptop in truck - no chairs, hope you have some AC or do you actually do the design in their kitchen after selections are made?

The generator is hardly audible, 4 stroke 56DB. I'm installing an RV heater next week, runs on a 20lb propane tank. The lights are all low voltage and LED except for the track lights. Very little wattage is being used, Meile Expresso machine uses about 1000 watts when steaming milk. Cork flooring as in the photo. In the spring I will have an AC/ heater that is roof mounted and runs off propane. Design is done in their kitchen and I have 2 chairs but removed them for the show.

You should put some siding on it.

Totally kidding silvertree!

Your truck display is awesome. I bet your set-up time is about 15 minutes now, eh?

Really cool idea. I love it.

By the way, I should have also added a more appropriate comment besides just trying to make a funny.

I think it looks awesome.

Do you also bring the truck out to neighborhoods you are working in to have the neighbors stop in for a free coffee and collect their information and interest?

It will really show how when you tile, the grout never cracks...

Awsome idea, and the display looks nicer than most I see in actual showrooms (you know the ones not on wheels)

Re: My New Marketing Vehicle

Thank you all, except maybe that Seth guy. I went to school on this one.
I plan to network and show it all off wherever anyone lets me. I have no idea on how to best do this, so I will just try anything that sounds like fun that might work.

I have to share my opening line with you all

"Ma'am, would you like 2% or skim with your latte, how about a nice piece of Dove chocolate with your drink. And why don't you take off your shoes and feel that cork floor on your feet while the latte brews".

Honest! Thats what I said at the show. It was a lot of fun, the women loved it.
I know what your thinking Rory, but I can't say those kinds of things here.

That looks great, as a woman, I would totally be impressed with your thoughtfulness and attention to detail!
Nicely done!
Maybe it is just the angle, my eyes are drawn to the ceiling, it is the only thing that is not "perfect".

That must have been a costly investment.

Truck I bought used, materials including truck A little under $40,000.
2 months planning and doing build out, no income in this time.
Expresso machine $2000 wholesale. Thats a lot of Lattes to get hat money back.

If it doesn't work, I will be selling coffee on street corners.

I hope to earn that back on depreciation and % of sales in 36 months?

Nice work!

Boy, I can only imagine how terrified you must have been over the first set of railroad tracks, praying you didn't hear a crash coming from the box!

Good luck with it.

Re: My New Marketing Vehicle

I really like it...but when parked in a bank parking lot, are you positioned so that people see the open door? How about an awning on one side and pull out a 2-3 cabinet display that hangs on the side of the boxtruck, which is the 3dimensional version of a kitchen picture (wrap)? Just thinking of getting the passer's by to notice if they're not taking it in.

great work on setting it up!
