Marketing for a New Builder

We recently opened our business about a month ago (custom construction and renovations) and have already landed two jobs. The second job is in the same neighborhood as the first job, and we got it because of the first job. We believe that we need to turn back flips for our customers and do everything possible to make them happy. This will help us with references also.

Other than referrals, what other marketing methods would you recommend to a company that lacks "branding" etc... due to being so new? We are in the process of having a logo designed. We have already had a very nice site signs made for our jobs. We are thinking of having postcards made to do direct mailers. Is this a good idea? What other marketing avenues would you consider? We want the best bang for the buck obviously!!!

Also, we are getting a lot of different figures from companies that send direct mail. Can you provide any good companies that can print AND direct mail our pieces? And what kind of turn key price is considered reasonable? Say for 5,000 postcards where 300-500 cards will be mailed at a time.

And, does anyone have any proven postcard examples and/or language they would mind sharing to "hook" clients in our market? Thanks!!!

Referrals and time...do good work and people will talk about it....the remodeling of homes will pick up as new construction drops. Having signs on your trucks, and being visible are far more important the fancy logo's or mailers, IMO. Some guys like door hangers...I do not....some like the Yellow Pages....not me. Business cards are my only expense.

Active involvement in the renovators council of your local home builders' association may pay dividends -- you'll gain insights, leads, and visiility and may pick up some worthwhile business.

Canvass the neigborhood your working in.
There are some good post here on how to canvass.
You get a low response with direct mail, you have to do it six or seven times to the same area.
But you could send out direct mail then canvass.
Good Luck

Job signs & your name on your vehicles.

We do door hangers but for a different reason.....We hang them only in the neighborhood we are working in. The hanger explains that we are working in their area and if there are any issues with parking, noise or whatever, please contact us at this number. Please feel free to stop buy and see what we are doing.

You'd be amazed at the number of calls we get - not from complaints, but from HO's seeing a professional outfit and seeking them out.LOL
