Marketing My Young Diverse Company??

Hi, I have a construction company located in Yorktown, VA; I am 26 years old and have been in business for four years. We do custom home remodeling, which we use subs for electrical, plumbing, and roofing, but most of the work we do it in house. We also do apartment “turns” for property management companies; I have a full time painter in house and a repairman. I also have a full time sheetrock crew that does commercial and residential sheetrock. I am looking to stay more constant with my work, now it comes in spurts; one month we will be swamped and the next I am hustling to come up with jobs for my guys to do. I will say the last 6 months have been better but not as good as I would like. I am looking to have someone build my website, to help market my business. If I had my choice I would want my business to head to the commercial side of the spectrum, with the drywall, painting and apartments these are my bread and butter. I would like some advice from yall on how to market my company the best. Seeing how I cover several trades I don’t know where to start with my web site. Thanks in advance!
Matt

Re: Marketing My Young Diverse Company??

Hey Matt,

I work for a general contractor and we made the mistake of hiring an amateur "webmaster" who built us a horrible website - he knew nothing about seo's, etc. We now have a new webmaster who's in the process of building our new website from scratch. Because we do a little of everything the webmaster came up with the idea of building landing pages within the website so it will appear to the "googlebots" and everyone else that we have 3 websites when really it's just one.

Our webmaster's name is Matt Hulbert and he's here in Fredericksburg, VA. I just called him to see if he would work outside of this area and he said he would. He does incredible work and is really on top of his game. If you want his number or want to ask me questions about what he's doing for us let me know. I can shoot you my number or his.

I can't find a send message button for you. The gentleman I was talking about can create a website for you & add many features. He had many referrals and charges between 1k-2k. Incredible site and SEO ready, e-mail, blog, video ready, newsletter, RSS feed, subscribe form, contact form & He works with contractors is VA and I told him about you. I can't message you for some reason, because I don't see that option for you. His website is theMarketingCoachVa. Any other questions let me know. He did a local speaking event for MAPPA and for NARI and I attended one of his group seminars for contractors. He is a Duct Tape coach too, so I know he is credible.

IMO, I would determine which aspect of your business is the most successful/profitable and focus your marketing efforts to grow that area. You can still choose to offer supplemental services, however in my experience, focusing your effort on one thing at a time is the way to grow most efficiently.

Re: Marketing My Young Diverse Company??

matt,

what advice would you give to someone that wants to get into the apartment business , as far as the turn overs go . geting units ready for new tenates....and how would you recomend I get started in that ?

I have been actively rehabing properties for resale inbetween remodel jobs for about 6 years now so ive goten to know a good amount of people in my area that are invloved in real estate and i curently do turn overs for 2 landlords in my town . I have never really thought to much about trying to do more turn overs until I read you post , as you mention it is some what your bread and buter. so I think im going to look into it , and any advice you give is very much appreciated.
thanks,
Dennis
