Mailling Letters To Homeowners.
When you guys mail letters to homeowners, do you guys hand write return address and the address your sending to both or do you use labels. I though I heard someone say that its more personal to handwrite it, but thats a lot of writing. Is it worth it?

Re: Mailling Letters To Homeowners.
What is the purpose of the letter? Is this to generate leads or a reply to an existing customer or something else.
Generaly, I use labels for everything. |

Re: Mailling Letters To Homeowners.
I use envelopes that are preprinted with our return address and logo. Then handwrite the address of the person we are sending to. We are just getting ready to send out a mailer to 150+ people in our area and I am REALLY looking forward to all that writing!!!!!

Re: Mailling Letters To Homeowners.
Make sure you use a commemorative stamp and have it slightly tilted (not perfect). Definitely hand addressed. Printed return adresses are a sign of junk mail. No bulk rate!!!!
Direct mail (if you have a GOOD list) is expensive. If you just have a purchased list, you can expect a large amount of old addresses and duplication. If you buy a list get a electronic copy so you can update it. Expect 1-2% or so response for the first mailing. Subsequent mailings should have a better response. The real "ball park cost" cost of a mailing is about $2 per piece - envelopes, postage, time relevant insert preparation, cover letter, stuffing and your labor. If you look at you labor as free, you are fooling yourself since you could be doing something better (more profitable) with your time.

Re: Mailling Letters To Homeowners.
I use to drive around my area and look for the homes that needed a garage, repair, vinyl etc... Take down the address and send out a flyer with a hook " very important ". It works pretty good, and you keep your mailing fee's down. After a while, repeat business will keep you going if your good at what you do!!
Go to the town office to get property owners Name!! Last edited by IBUILD; 04-01-2007 at 12:14 PM. Reason: Forgot important info |

A clear hand written envelope will get it opened, what is inside will keep it out of the trash can.

Re: Mailling Letters To Homeowners.
This is a radius to some jobs we just finished, I was going to hand write the send to address, but should the return address be written or my logoed envelopes?

Re: Mailling Letters To Homeowners.
There is a software I just read about which will duplicate, or clean up your own handwriting and create a font format for it for you to still print them out, but from the reviews I read about it, you can not tell it was from a printer.
I just have to remember where I saw that at. I'll try googling something along the lines of "my own handwriting font software" and see if I can find it again. If it is on my office computer, it will take some time. Its down right now. Ed |

I can not vouch for this, but I copied this link and post from a marketing forum I check out once in a while.

Re: Mailling Letters To Homeowners.
a clear return address w/ small photo to pique intrest will be open,
my brother is an ornamental mason & fountain contractor.... his return address label has a hand cut stone fountain depicted in full cover... this is used for cold mailing biz to biz,, country clubs funeral homes, snooty old lady flower societies... i dont know how they would perform in a mass campaign, but with a segmented public they are opened. the clear labels are a vailable at staples, you can fire them up through ms publisher.. ray |
