Mailing List Question

Say I want to mail out to all the homes on certain streets, from say the 2200 block up to the 2400 block. How can I get the mailing list?

The outfit I've been using for my mailing (Modern Postcard) only provides demographic lists, and not specific street listings like I want.

Appreciate any advice!

Re: Mailing List Question

I don't know the answer but have you contacted the local Post Office? They may be able to provide that information or tell you who can?

Re: Mailing List Question

There is already quite a bit of information regarding this question in this forum. 2 were recently discussed at large.

One was Info USA and I can't recall the other name, but I printed it out at my office.

Do a search regarding either Direct Mail Lists or some variation of those words and you will find the recent discussions.

Re: Mailing List Question

That's right Ruskent, Carrier Routes describes what I'm looking for. I know the various streets I'd like to mail to, and I'd like to get the names and addresses of all the homeowners.

I should call my Post Office again, they weren't very helpful last time I asked them about it.

I'll go look at the older posts about this, do some homework.

Appreciate the help fellas.

Re: Mailing List Question

Yeah, but I'm not very good with Excel, and wouldn't know how to sort the data myself Poolman. That's why I'm looking to get a list already prepared.

Re: Mailing List Question

We use InfoUSA once in a while and find them very useful. (We are actually a registered Reseller of InfoUSA mailing lists and services.)

You'll have to pay for it, but they can send you prepared mailing labels.

You can just call their 800# and they'll prepare the whole thing for you.

Good luck!

Carrier routes are something you "sort by" to save on postage. I never heard of mailing to carrier routes, only about sorting a big mailing by the carrirer routes that will be delivering the mailing. Hence the term CAR-RT SORT on some of the mail you receive.

If you do this, check your carrier route carefully to make sure it stays in the neighborhoods you want to reach.

Re: Mailing List Question

POOLMAN,

Excel works for you??? I find it "helps" me a little too much by truncating the leading zero in the ZIP code. Yes, I tried the little tick mark thingie. A single quote or something, they call it. Still no success.

I hadda go to Access with my mailing list. I export it to a CSV file, pull it into a Labels mail merge and VIOLA, STICKERS!!!

  1. <LI class=LPROC>Select the cells you want to format.

<LI class=LPROC>On the Format menu, click Cells, and then click the Number tab.
    Show Me
  2. In the Category list, click Special, and then select the format you want to use.
Notes
  • If a range of cells contains both five-digit and nine-digit ZIP Codes, you can apply a custom format that displays either type of ZIP Code correctly. In the Category list, click Custom, and then type the following in the Type box:
[<=99999]00000;00000-0000
  • <LI class=NLB>If you don’t find what you’re looking for, you can create a custom number format.
  • You can use number formats to change the appearance of numbers, including dates and times, without changing the number behind the appearance.

Re: Mailing List Question

I use salesgenie.com they are a division of Info USA, the largest conusmer information bank out there. You pay a monthly fee, but you are able to go online anytime and search anywhere in the USA. You can search by name, address, zip code, income, you name it and you can search it. It is target marketing at it's finest.

And to top it off the customer service is EXCEPTIONAL! They call you once a month to see how it is working for you, and offer to assist you with your questions.

Obviously, I highly reccomend it to any business anywhere.
