If you have Microsoft Works they have some templates pre made there that you can customize a little. I haven't tried adding logos etc to it yet but they are good looking and work very well.

Re: Mail Box Fliers

I assume that you will be mailing these. Placing ads in or on a mailbox without paying postage is a crime, a Federal crime. This topic has been covered here a few times.

the postmaster general here told us we can put them on the mail boxes but not in them. We have been doing it for about 5 years now.

I like door hangers better
they see it, they have to enter their home
it stays out of rain
and you aren't near their mail box, no crimes

Some towns have laws stating that you can not do this. Some towns make you get a permit/pay a fee to do this. (door hangers)

If you are doing mailers, check on-line and have someone else do it, you can not do them for the same price. The nice big ones are around 50cents including postage ----you never have to touch them!

Re: Mail Box Fliers

I made up some fliers to pass out when we are working a job, I'll take a handfull of them and walk up and down the street we are on and put them in the doorway, I have got a few jobs doing this, but I don't remember to do it all the time, It says we are doing a plaster repair at and I fill in the address of the people we are working for, that way if they want to check out our work they can talk with the neighbor we did the work for. Good Luck.

There was this one company who did that at a home show I attended. They were not one of the vendors at the show however.

As a receiver of flyers, I like to add something.
Never advertize you can do the job cheaper. This tells potential customers that you are ready to take shortcuts. Be upfront with a customer and charge what you need. I once took bids on a siding job from two contractors and one of them said; give me the other guys price and I"ll do it for $100.00 less. Needless to say, I told him to just give me his price. When I got the other contractors price, he actually was $100.00 less and he got the job, not because he was cheaper but because he was honest.

Re: Mail Box Fliers

I bid a job a few weeks ago and the homeowner showed me a bid, trying to play "beat that price".

I overbid that lowest bidder by $600 and still got the job.

I SOLD the job, and CLOSED the deal.
I answered questions that should have already been answered, seeing I was the 4th or 5th company to bid.
I had our portfolio ready for view.
copies of our license / insurance

I use mostly Custom products to install tile
So I have the Custom manufacturer Lifetime Warranty information printed to show customer.

Why say you'll do it less than the competition
That just keeps bringing the general wages of tradesman lower and lower
Soon we'll be doing volunteer work.

Why dont you tell them that you will be 20% higher than anyone else... BUT you will give them 50% better quality than the other guys do.

Re: Mail Box Fliers

that's basically what I did when I handed them our portfolio

and then told them why they should use FlexBond on concrete

another contractor was just going to install tile over linoleum

why not peel it up, scrape it clean, then install
I reasoned with HO why they should do this

You don't have to be the cheapest.
So long as you can "sell" yourself
