Is Local.com Any Good???

Just wanted to find out if anyone has used Local.com and if you upgraded did you get any additional business?

I've entered our website onto google local, yahoo local, and this local.com. I just had a sales person call me to upgrade for $99/month with no contract. I can cancel at any time. However, I hate to throw money away and wanted to run it by you guys. What do you think?

I have not tried them. Yahoo local gets me for $35 a month without any leads from it since I started months ago--mental note, I need to cancel it.

Re: Is Local.com Any Good???

Man, $99/ mo is like 1200 per year. This is almost like yellow pages, just online (alot more competition). And all i hear is that Yellow Pages (YP) sucks and that YP is dead and only grandmas use it these days ... I mean it is true, YP is dead

So,... why would you waste $1200/year or even $99 on something that does not work?

Instead use PPC. Use narrow search terms - these cost less an are precise.

For example instead of General Contractor use something like "builder in your city" these are less expensive and don't attract people outside your service are - those that waste your advertising dollars. As a result you can get alot more clicks/calls for that same $99...

good luck

PS, Carter... change the design of your site - it looks like it was made in the 90's using MS front-page express

change the buttons / top logo to something more "modern"... that is all.

Also, as a good advertisement strategy, create a links (construction resources) page and exchange links with other construction sites outside ur service area... you will see the results in about 3-6 months...

I didn't sign up for it. I just wanted to see if anyone else had and if so, if it was worth it. I was pretty skeptical that it was any good, but you never know.

Anyone have any new input on local.com?
I got a call to verify my listing, they gave me a 30 day free trial and said if I wanted to upgrade later I could.

I was called two weeks ago on this. They gave me a price of 49.00 to be on their front page of their directory. I told him "google & yahoo" provide excellent results for me - without having to pay for it!

I simply told him to send me some information. At the same time, I was thinking who the hell searches on local.com?!?!!? I just wanted to have my website in another directory.

Maybe you need a shot of you with your collar turned up like the cool dude at flatroofteam.

I prefer the Carter site. Cleaner & simpler.
