Link Exchange

Hey guys,
This is Peter from Joe Percario General Contractors, a roofing, siding, and window contractor in New Jersey. I have been hard at work for my company's website and I have been looking extensively into Web Engine Optimization.
I am posting here to see if any roofing, siding, windows, or gutter company is willing to do a link exchange. Between my company's website and another contractor's website. Basically, we would link to you and you would link to us. As long as we're not from the same state, we will not be taking from each others business.
The link is primarily for search engines to see that we're both about roofing, siding, and windows
Basically, search engins look and what kind of websites link to you, if siding, windows, and roofing site link to you and your content is about those keywords then search engines such as google, yahoo, and MSN rank you higher when people search for such keywords.
The only requirement I have is for the your page to at least have a Page Rank of 2.
I will get in touch with your web person and discuss the exact language to use when linking to each other.
If you want to talk to me directly, call me.
908-245-1071 and just ask for Peter.

Re: Link Exchange

Still looking for feedback. A link exchange is the cheapest way to get leads through the internet. It costs nothing.

Sorry for the long post but the gist is that if you link to our company we will link back to you and we both will rank higher among search engines.

Re: Link Exchange

Hey Peter,

1st of all, for some reason you are not going to get much of a response here...

2nd - I thought of exchanging links with you but i will not - here is why:

  • You only want to exchange links with pr2 + sites which means that all you are concerned about is YOUR site getting PR.
  • Your linking page is not even fully indexed, so it want pass on your site's pr to your link partners.
  • Reason why your links page is not fully indexed is because you anly link to it from the home page.
  • Also your site is 7 (!!!) years old in has only PR 2 which means you either did not do anything to it in terms of SEO forever, or you did some shady SEO. And besides, like I mentioned already, ally you care about is your site getting PR, not you link partners...

Here is what I think you should do: make your links page more appealing for link exchange (have it linked from every page on your website, post links to quality websites like toolbase.com, etc)

Add more quality content and you site will gro by itself.

thanks for the replies by the way
here is my input

Whenever a link exchange is done it is to increase your Page Rank. The reason for only wanting websites with PR of 2 is because my website is has a Page Rank of 2 and is due for a higher PR since I started working on it only 5-6 months ago and only extensively in the last 2 months. It wouldn't make sense for any company to link to a Page Rank site of zero or 1; you would ideally want to have an exchange with with someone of similar status. With few exception, if both pages have an equal rank then they will both help each other; otherwise, if you're linking for a web page that is insignificant to search engins then it will actually hurt your rankings.

Not sure what you mean here. There are no no-follow links in the page and the page does get scanned by search engine bots. Its not excluded from any index. If you mean that my page is not fully optimized in terms of Keywords, Headings, and description, then you're right and that is something I can work on and change. Again, I am no-wizard I have been doing much of this from reading SEO articles and there is always room for improvement.

You only need one link to the page for it to be "fully" indexed. Again I'm not understanding what you mean.

You're absolute right, the site was never used for lead generation, it went through several phases of different version but its only goal was to educate customers that already know us about the company. It was never designed to attract leads from search engines. So it was never optimized. I started working on the page and remade the website in June. I started optimizing and advancing the ranking of the website in the last 3 months. This is the reason why it only has a PR of 2; for 7 years no one worked or had the understanding of SEO (Search Engine Optimizaiton) to advance the page/website.

Re: Link Exchange

Search for the URL of your Links page in google (including "http://" and without it)

For the first search it will not be found, and for the 2nd one you will fond it. This means that it is only located in Google's supplemental index - not the main one.

As Far as PR - well, I do want pr 7 sites to link to me, BUT when I do a link exchange, I look at the quality of the website, not some stupid PR, what may not mean much. For example your site might be de-indexed, but t still shows PR until rankings are updated.

Another example - two PR3 sites, both fully indexed - both are about the same stuff. One gets 1000 visits/day, another gets 150 visits/day. So the PR3 does not mean much. you can have a pr5 site with 200 visits per day, and PR 2 with 750 visits/day (all fro search engine)...

Also, when I got stated 8 month ago, my site had NO PR (not even zero). Now its 3 and growing, but I had to start somewhere. And I linked and will link to sites with no PR and PR1, 2, 3 etc... as long as it is a quality site.

I will also give link juice to my linking partners (unlike you) as it benefits BOTH of us. As my partner's site becomes stronger, my link becomes stronger... mutual benefit. I provide this link juice by having a quality links directory which has PR, it ranks and it's linked from every page on my site...

Re: Link Exchange

When I started my blog, I decided to grant free links to any relevant construction industry blog -- without expectation of any reciprocation or exchange.

This policy remains in place. The ground rules: You need to have a real content-specific blog, and it needs to be maintained with enough frequency and duration to be relevant. Finally, if I sense the blog's primary (only) purpose is SEO, I won't link it.

Of course these guidelines ensure some quality and value in the links list. With content updating etc, after a while, the blog's oogle rankings shot through the roof. But if I went about it with SEO as my goal, rather than the result, I would likely be disappointed.

With link exchanges, I think, it is what you give, not what you receive, that counts.
