A Lead Service Question

I know ... these lead service discussions are getting old

but I read something that was pretty interesting about lead services ... and I think that it's been mentioned several times on here.

It seems as if the biggest difference between those who were disappointed in lead services ... and those who found them helpful was this:

The successful ones were the first to call their lead

What say ya'll about this. This isn't my statement - I'm just merely repeating it.

I'm not a fan of lead services - hell, I devised a plan to actually rid the planet of them ... i've been scared to death of them from all the horror stories.

But that comment above really got me thinking. I'd be interested in knowing whether it has any merit or not ....

opine away

Re: A Lead Service Question

Dirt

I agree if you call first you are in a good position. I strongly believe where i am there is one large remodeler that gets the leads from them before we do. I also belive they get some leads that we don't see at all. That is actually why i started my adwords campaign was to get to the same leads before the service company got them. SM has sent me leads that I know I got before they got them by reading the scope of work and the zip code. It cost me 2 bucks for a adwords click vs 50 bucks to SM. Seems like a better deal to me?

Im not a fan of them either, BUT THEY DO TELL YOU THIS. The rep that talked to me said, your success depends on what YOU do with the leads! If your a lousy salesperson or drag your feet, your not going to get the jobs. However, there is no excuse for the bogus leads that they seem to be giving some peoplel

Re: A Lead Service Question

In my opinion, stay away from these lead generating services at all costs. For a small investment and a little know how you can dominate local search for your trade. Best of all, once the initial work is done, very little $$ needs to be spent and you will get as many leads as you can handle.

Re: A Lead Service Question

I don't think you've unlocked the secrets of the universe on this one dirt.

If you have 30 people calling and emailing you back what is the experience of the contractor who is caller number 30 going to be?

How about number 25? How about caller 15 or caller 10? How about caller 8?

Even the biggest jack off isn't going to have the stomach to set 12 appointments with 12 different contractors to see which one gets to wall paper the inside of their hallway coat closet.

I think they are great if you keep a close watch on what you are buying. The 1st 5 callers are about the only ones that get an appointment though. You should have them send a text message with contact info directly to your cell phone. That really helps me!

Re: A Lead Service Question

If you are new use them with the advice given here, I used them for about 2 months and got a couple decents jobs at first but then all tire kickers.
