I saw that, Doug. From where are they getting their leads would be the question I would ask.

They called me a few weeks ago and faxed me a introduction sheet. I am thinking of giving them a try but have so many other things to do at the moment. I figure I throw some money at them for a month or two and see what they can do for me.

Re: Lead Company WCV? Anyone?

I filled out the reqest form over the weekend and got called today.

+
They only sell the lead to one company.
Their return policy is fair.
They are in the trades along with having a lead company.

-
Price, a little on the high side at $65 for window leads. If the quality is good then their price is fair.

I'll post my results.

I called them today since it has been about a month since I signed up. This afternoon we received our first estimate and we able to set an appointment.

DougChips,

Do you think that you finally got that 1st lead from them today because you called them?

I'm glad you kept the thread in mind to let others know about their service.

Maybe they got a few more new clients than they could process? Since almost a month passed without seeing a lead I called them. I wonder if I call them 3 times Wednesday if I will get 3 leads? The nice part about doing business with them is that are aware of how we post our results on this site!

I found another lead service that has a flat rate fee that I am trying out. Non-local guys can PM me for details, local contractors buzz off.

3 month results. 3 leads. Two of which I got credit for, the third one was a really good lead ($20,000 window job) and I lost the job.

Re: Lead Company WCV? Anyone?

Another update:

Received 3 more leads, 2 wanted product only and could not be talked into a demo and one we keep leaving messages for.

WCV refunded the 2 leads and will refund the 3rd after 20 days if we can not make contact with the client. The refund process is easy and they don't bitch and moan like some other places. With the exception of the one lead we can actually contact their leads and they pick up the phone!

If WCV is looking, get more leads in my area.

Re: Lead Company WCV? Anyone?

Im sick of these lead services that say sign up now receive qualified leads in your area... my ***. There are all a bunch of BS. Their is only one company out there that is half way alright and they've been in the game for 10 years now. All these other people trying to replicate what they have done won't happen. I would proceed with caution when dealing with these types of companies all they want is your money they dont care about you or the customer.

Re: Lead Company WCV? Anyone?

I use WCV leads now. My last post said I hadn't signed up yet. I had a complaint that alot of what they were sending me was out of my area. This was due to the fact that their system only allows you to choose counties, rather than zip codes. I service a very select area based on demographics. I don't even soome neighboring suburbs.

So after asking for quite a few lead credits one of the managers emailed me and we worked out a zip code list. I'll keep you posted on my results now that it's been tweaked.

Re: Lead Company WCV? Anyone?

Basically a lead company is just an advertising or marketing company that does the work for you. It's like outsourcing your advertising and it's a lot cheaper than doing it yourself. Little things like local market research and test marketing would cost the invidual contractor an arm and a leg. Not to mention the actual advertising intself. Some lead companies however, are just a group of contractors selling leads that don't work for them but could work for someone else. Hypothetically, (wink, wink) all of you guys could chip in for the licensing (if any are applicable) create an LLC and sell all the leads that turn you down either to another lead company or to other contractors like the ones on this site. You don't even have to do that to profit from your "no's" there are hundreds of ways you can use them as networking tools and at the end of it all the customer is well served too.
You could't meet the customer's needs so you found someone who could the only differance is your getting paid for it.

I've often thought about starting a seperate and un-advertised company to compete against me. The purpose of this company would be to catch all the customers who only want the cheapest roof. My focus has always been on quality which leaves alot of customers out in the cold. However also leaves me pennyless on those customers. Rather than cut conrers and have complaints (as my current company) I always focused on doing things right...

Well the other company would be called something to the effect of "Supa-Cheap Roofing" probably not exactly that, but you get the point... And after someone told me my roof was too expensive, and after I exhausted all avenues to do business with them, they would get an estimate in the mail, enail, fax from Supa-Cheap for the bare bones minimum roof allowable by code and law and the minimum allowable warranty by law.

This would result in no slander upon the good name of my company but would allow me to grab a little bit more market share. Eh it looks good on paper but hasn't been implemented yet for a reason. It's probably more trouble than it's worth.

Re: Lead Company WCV? Anyone?

Thought I would up date this thread. We dumped WCV leads last year because we felt their leads were of a lower standard than what we were looking for (being nice).

Now they will not stop e-mailing us even when we ask them not to e-mail us. I ended up reporting their e-mail( info@wcvleads.com ) as spam to the FTC.
