Jobsite Radius Marketing

Awhile back I saw an add on this site talking about jobsite radius marketing. Basically it went something like this: $39.50 and we will send out marketing material to 50 homes near your jobsite. I was just wondering if anybody has ever tried this approach, and what your success rate with this was.

The price seems rather intreging, especially for one jobsite of mine in particular. This jobsite is a 1 hour drive from my office. I am inclined to try this approach, since it will only cost me about $.80 cents per home. I cant even drive to these potential new clients home for that price.

Please weigh in and let me know your thoughts.

Listen, thats all fine and great and we are doing that. However, I am considering doing more work in this area as this current job is very profitable. If you dont have any imput towards this topic that is useful that dont post to it anymore. You havent answerd my question yet. I am looking for someone with some real thoughts on this matter.

Re: Jobsite Radius Marketing

I have used it. I send out one groups of 50 mailers. I recived 2 responses.
The program really works if you send out the mailer 3 or more times. This is putting your name and number in front of these people a few times within a few months. I really have not used it much but i should. I think it would work well if you had a large job site site working in conjuction with the radius marketing. The set up fee was 150 per template and i choose the oversized card which were about $45 to mail to the closest 50 homes. The month fee for the first year is $9.95.
Hope this helps
Steve

Re: Jobsite Radius Marketing

I think, if it's in the budget, try it. Every book on marketing, I've read suggests something similar. I've never, personaly tried it but I can't see why it wouldn't work in conjuction with your yard sign, truck lettering, etc. These people see you working on their neighbors house. Why not take the opportunity to introduce yourself.
Actually do you remember where you saw the add?

you go where the money is. If I drive about an hour away from my office (in the right direction) I can make up to 45% more for the same job 5 mins. away. It's a no brainer.

Re: Jobsite Radius Marketing

That is what I was trying to find out! IF it is worth it, the extra drive! DOES it actually make you more money or does it just apear to because the tickets are bigger. Just make sure you KNOW that it will make you more money before you book an entire years worth of work there. I know when I worked for others there is no way I would work 1 hour away without getting paid for drive time.

I was not trying to be an ass... I was just trying to see if its worth it. Like the people who will drive 20 miles to save $0.02 a gallon on gas, most cars have 18-20 gallon tanks so that trip "saved" them $0.40 but they wasted 2.5 gallons round trip.

Most manufacturers will do job site radius marketing for you. They usually do it for pretty cheap also because they splash their logo on the mailer with your company contact info. www.marketzone.com does it for certainteed, and I know allside also does it.

You have already established credibility by working in the area, who better to promote your work then a neighbour.
It is called referral when one neighbour tells another, the best kind of job to have. Trust is established before they meet you.
The cost appeals to me as well that is the

cost of a stamp and letter.

Re: Jobsite Radius Marketing

I've found close proximity marketing to jobsites and places we do estimates using door hangers. And repeat a couple weeks later. And a few weeks after that another distribution.
Brand your name into their thoughts so when they think of your trade they think of you.

Re: Jobsite Radius Marketing

Yes i like the idea an have been useing it for years. I use door knob hangers. I used to have them printed a few thousand at a time . but now i by the hanger paper precut and coustom print them in the office for the type of job that can sell in the area. My kids and there friends hang them on the doors around the neighberhood sometimes i pull them around in a dump trailer with a dump truck . I put out 250 at a time and do it three times per job .If i get a job from it i do it three more times. I like to put the flyers in the shop rite by the job because every body needs to eat i mite run a ad in a cheep paper . I like to butter up the paper boy so he can stuff flyers in the paper. people like to call a contractor that they see .I would run a add in a paper every other week .I use a small paper its about 135 per week for 36 weeks a year.I run more in the spring and fall.I like to build 10 or 12 jobs a year. Ps I worked 60 mls from my house for 20 years it much harder to sell and build that far away. I havent worked more then 2mils from my house this year .I think thats the way to go.
