It's Your Domain, Use It!

Ok, I started on this in another thread, but this is a personal .. I guess you'd call it a pet peeve of mine. Though it really doesn't effect me, it just seems to grate on my nerves like nails on a chalkboard every time I see it.

You go through the trouble of registering that great domain name, getting a website up, etc... but you still use joebuilder@comcast.net or mycompany@myisp.com or worse joe12468@aol.com for your email on your website, on your business cards, etc.

You have a domain! Use it!

Why do you want to advertise for AOL or Comcast or Google every time you give out a business card or send a client an email? I suppose if you've got a sponsorship deal like a NASCAR driver and are getting kick-backs or something to do so it might be worth it... but odds are yer not, right?

Build on your brand identity and use your domain for your email.

Ok, fine... you may have been using that comcast address for years before you got your domain, but switching over is NOT that difficult. You can continue to check that comcast mailbox very easily while making the switch over. Just about every email program you can put on your computer lets you monitor more than one account...

Even worse: People that use the free Yahoo e-mail and the e-mails contain ads----very professional IMHO.

I am starting the second part of my website, and your right, your name is everything and free emails are tacky and unprofessional. Cripe! I think my domain email costs only 20 bucks a year. How good is a brand with a Yahoo signature for an email address.
