Nope, and I probably never will. I prefer to explain what I charge, rather than to be told what the job pays.

Re: Installing For Depot Of Lowes

I use to install for Blowes, serviced 8 of their stores. I fired them this fall. They began to treat their subs as employees without benefits. I would stay clear of them.

Home Creapo, I still service a few of their stores. I sub out 100% of their work and it does not involve much over site. So long as the work is done within 10 days and my customer stat scores are in the mid 90's I have no issues. Basically the money I make off of my contract pays for all of my overhead (trucks, office, my payroll, office manager).

I have plenty of time to develop my own window company and relax after 10 years of working in the field.

Would I recommend Home Creapo to anyone else, hell no! Servicing Home Centers will suck the life out of most people. They are very needy and they love to call you all day and night. I have spent 6 years working inside Home Centers and 10 subbing for them.

I have not lost a job to them yet. They market to everyone and enough people are aware of their level of service. I do not market or sell to people who want a low price or who settle for poor quality.

so true, plus they do not let you keep your company name, they make you their "employees" per say....not something I'll ever ever ever do

The boxes here operate through a second entity. They want to schedule your time and tell you what you will be paid as a sub! Only a desperate weenie would go there and go under shortly thereafter. I wasted 4hrs. going over it once or twice.

The best part is that you get all of the numbers and you know what you are up against.

Review post #5. I can sit on my ass and pay all of my overhead because of a home center. My subs make between $55,000 (part time)-$150,000 (full time). They have almost zero overhead. I use to hire subs for HQ/Hechinger/Builders Square almost 95% wash out, the 5% can make some money. So your statement is about 95% correct.

I handle the advertising in the Chicago/NW Indiana market for a HD installation partner. They are the 'go-between' between the manufacturer of the product and the retail store, (in this case HD), iteself.

Hudson, do you have a specific question regarding this area?

Re: Installing For Depot Of Lowes

I tried doing a few Hardwood Floor installations for Lowes, a few years back. Money was pretty decent for sub work ($3.50 SF)...The biggest problem, I had with them was, I was running into damaged materials, and shortages all the time, which made me go back multiple times to correct their screw ups. I would never work for any big box retail stores like that again.
