The only thing that "hurts" is when people spend time in areas that do not somehow help them grow the business. A lot of my clients get addicted to Instagram and Twitter (mostly because of their personal social life) but no one has told me they have gotten leads. The only social environment where my clients consistently get referral leads is from Facebook. And also YouTube helps massively when it comes to keyword rankings. So my vote is YouTube and Facebook to focus most of the attention.

Just started our FB page. Any advice on how to generate leads? I am very new to FB for business. I have found several sub contractors and met lots of people through IG, but no business leads thus far.

Hi MKB,

Knowing you are new to the topic, please let me know if all this helps. It is hard to always know what is overkill versus enough to give you the firepower you desire. I am in the process of deciding what topics to update in 2018 and I wonder if being just two years dated matters with the way I already covered it for someone new.

There are a handful of easy items to follow. I cover the free Facebook items and not the Paid Advertising side of Facebook. The Paid opportunities on Facebook are different to talk about.

So I did a short walk through about 2 years ago on this topic. A popular consultant (Michael Stone of Markup & Profit) asked me to do an overview to cover as many basic topics as possible since this comes up all the time. Here is the webinar copy and I deviate in the last minute to introduce Mr. Stone so you can jump off right when I finish the summary review.

Warning: Only thing to mention before reviewing the video is to be aware the topics are the generally the same, but some of the screens have changed on Facebook when you go to look on your own screen.

Here is a real example after you understand the generics. One of my clients asked me to guide him to have a post where they can clearly see if they are connecting to their client base. Go the following facebook page for a specific set of two examples. Scroll to their Aug 31, 2017 and Sept 17, 2017 posts. Notice the number of Likes they got on the specific request. They then contacted those people and immediately got leads that converted to work. Yes, many people just Like the post and were not answering the question. Didn't happen overnight since there are other aspects to consider, but you will get a general idea how they made a simple post, with a simple request and link to their site. And then they followed up too (and many people miss that step).

Good luck.
