Very true! Also, consider this a form of "permission marketing". This audience wants to see what you're up to unlike the traditional "interruption marketing" like newspaper ads, TV ads, mailers, or door hangers. They didn't turn on the TV or buy the paper to see your advertising. They didn't go to their mail box or their front door to get your flier either; you've interrupted them from what they intended to do with hopes that 1 or 2% might give a crap about your advertising.

Think about it, the people on Facebook pages have essentially signed up to see your stuff so don't get out of hand by posting 3 times a day or making amazing offers. Keep it simple and more will come. You can even throw in some DIY tips once in a while to help keep their attention (I'm working on one for Tuesday morning).

Also, I see some of my Contractor friends post business stuff on their profile and business pages. I don't recommend this. People who want to see your work or know what your up to on the business side of things will have little incentive to check out and "like" your page. They may even opt out of your business page so they don't see your updates twice!

Just give your friends a nudge once in a while and remind them about your business page if they haven't signed up for it yet.

What you say maybe true to an extent. When I post business related stuff on my personal profile, I usually have a time lapse. By default, I have my posts viewable by friends only. When I post a 'business' related post I select everyone. Also when One has *** amount of friends on their list. It's easy to miss posts in the newsfeed. FB has it's own idea on who. what, want & how many you want to see and can be adjusted my going to the bottom of the newsfeed page and selecting 'Edit Options'. There you can see who is hidden, who to show more of and Maximum number of friends shown in Live Feed

Haven't done it since page 13 So here's your updated list with the new ones since then added to the bottom. I know all the regulars already have most on here but for those just joining let me tell you, trying to grab all those url's out of 23 pages is a pita.

Almost 35 url's here, somehow I only have 23 fans - weird. Tile haters!

Not knocking anyone here, but looking back on my contracting days my clientele would not have contacted me via a social networking web site.

Maybe it's just the old dogs & new tricks thing.

Facebook is really just the new word of mouth advertising. It's the same as when you were in your contracting days. Since most people are online talking now via these social media sites... that is how you now pick up new customers from word of mouth.

The new generation that is buying your services are throwing their phone books in the trash without a second thought. They are chucking their junk mail and booting up the laptop to see what their friends are up to on Facebook. While doing their laundry, they encounter a small flood from the washer... crap... need a plumber now... hello Internet!

How do I know who I can depend on? Hello Facebook, I remember my buddy talking about this guy the other day... word of mouth advertising via social media.... could be a mistake to ignore it!

Take care!

Re: If You're Not On Facebook, You Should Be.

I've been trying to get our company on facebook. After filling out the information, it says something like, "welcome to FB, you will receive an email". I'm not receiving the email in order to confirm the account.

Am I making sense?
