  • Add good key word rich content regularly
  • Back links, back links back links (why don't you have a link in your profile??)
  • Google has an array of tools to use
  • submit it to major search engines
  • there are so many ways, let someone who knows what there doing do it for you.

Lots of posts on the web with it in your sig. While doing proposals yeaterday, had 2 calls on my cell from my site and sold both jobs. Did one and got paid. Other is scheduled for Mon. since it's a repair that I think I can fit in before the scheduled rain.

Tinner,
I did a Hubspot rank of your site and mine. Since taking some advice on this site, including advice from you I shot up in the rankings. I get no leads yet. Now I am changing some content, and will be installing some calls to action.
I thought of some pretty slick ways to get people to my contact page.
This is complicated, roofing has a more immediate need I would think, and why do you think you get leads and I don't?

silvertree. I'm taking an approach based on some adwords tutorials I've read. They advised to look for low-priced keywords that get specific traffic.
(I'm only using adwords for my domain slaes site)
I decided to target leaks and slate repairs in my keywords and content. And 'Green roofing'. While that gets fewer hits, they are more relevant. Then, the fact that I stated I would charge for leads cut down on tire kickers. Calls went from 10+ a week to 0 to 3.
Of the 10+, I might land 1 job because I won't bother lowering my price just to get the job.
Of the 0 to 3 calls, I often get all 3.

My site has been up for 8 years in one form or another and I think that helps too. And roofing is a 'Must have'. A kitchen is a 'Want to have'. That is another difference, so we may be comparing apples and grapes.

I hope that helps as I have trouble explaining myself sometimes.

I disagree. You guys are both way ahead of the curve, simply because you're actively trying to learn. That's all it takes.

Everything is constantly changing and evolving - especially online marketing - so just by paying a little bit of attention, you can take advantage of huge opportunities to get new business.

By doing a simple keyword search and finding a set of keywords that gets some traffic but has low competition, you can get ranked in a matter of days and start getting leads (for FREE!)

It takes almost 8 weeks for Google to crawl it's entire index.
So if you have no incoming links from a site already indexed it could take that long. Usually happens faster though.

If you want it crawled sooner, post a link in here (or in any other well ranked website) in your signature, you should be indexed by the next day.

Re: How To Get Good Trafic To You Site?

Hey all!

I felt like I should chime in here. It is my honest opinion that by far the best way to get *good* traffic to your site is to get high rankings on the major search engines. I say *good* traffic because it is very easy to get traffic to your site. Several online companies offer X amount of traffic per day, but it turns out that it includes some kid from Xiau, Japan that got lost on the internet.

There are tons of resources about how to optimize your site using title tags, header tags, keyword density and a whole bunch of stuff that no one but the nerdiest of geeks can figure out. Ultimately, google loves good, fresh content. Update the home page regularly. I would even type a quick blurp about a job you just finished. But make sure you use the "keywords" over and over again.

One book that I absolutely suggest to *everyone* is "How to Win Sales & Influence Spiders: Boosting Your Business & Buzz on the Web". You can get it on amazon. It is a quick read with TONS of super useful information.

For some quick wins, make sure you become the expert in your market. So, for example, you could type all about roofiing in Virginia, but to really become an expert in the eyes of Google Yahoo etc, you would have several articles on "challenges with roofing in Virginia", "Virginia ranked best state for roofers", "winter is coming, are roofs ready in Virginia ready?".

Point is, when someone types in google "roofing Virginia", you want to be at the top. Also, here's a quick tip for your site. NEVER USE PRONOUNS. Spell out every pronoun. So instead of the middle of your paragraph saying "although it can get difficult here" type "although roofing gets difficult in Virginia"

That's just some quick high "bang for your buck" suggestions to start off with.

Hope this helps.
