How To Get A FREE Website..

Getting a site up and running is not hard or costly. Find a geek at a coffee shop or a network group meeting in your area. Work out a deal to promote his web design business in exchange for a free site. I ran in to one guy who did my site. He was starting his web design business and need to build up his portfolio. It turns out he was better then most design companies in the area. I was very pleased with the work and he only charged me a one time setup fee and a monthly hosting fee. Last time I spoke to him he was still looking to add more sites to his portfolio.

Please email me if you need his contact info.

Maybe not. But a setup fee and monthly charges seem unusual terms for a free site.

I'm sure he ment the design portion of the web site was free. No one gets free hosting unless it's done by a person friend.

Not so mi amigo. My web guy has hosted my site for over 3 years free. Why? Because he designed another site for me that had a shopping cart which sucked. It was pretty generic template & I was not able to make changes on it like I needed to be able to due to not knowing html. I gave him a list of things I needed on a new shopping cart which he designed & I used it on my online tackle store. He was able to use my site to show potential clients how this shopping cart could work for them & sold it to several companies making some fat cash. We're not really friends, just have a business relationship that works well for both of us.

If you are into building your own website and want to learn the basics
try doteasy, I made one that has a hundred pics and a basic email form.

It's free. The hosting is cheap.

Yours is ten times what mine is, but my customers are happy with pics.

Its never a bad idea to look for a good deal, but I always say that building a website is a bad time to cheap-out. The one time cost of doing it right gives your company a solid presence on the internet and an invaluable marketing tool that works for you 24/7.

Wouldn't we all agree that someone who tries to save costs and handle electrical or plumbing work on their own without a licensed GC is making a mistake? Same concept here. Use a pro (for free if you are so lucky to work out that deal).

I agree completely if you have an online store were your doing sales or if your a larger corp/company that works nationally or even state wide but a website for someone like me advertising my mom&pop roofing company which requires no online sales and works exclusively in my immediate area i would say the cheaper you get it the better.
I would call a GC to change a breaker box, but not to change a bulb.
You Know?

Re: How To Get A FREE Website..

WOW.. You call this advice Spam.. I was trying to help out some of you cheapoooos!! Go to any design firm and get a price quote.. You always pay for the following:
1. Design & Layout - 500-800 4 pages
2. Setup fee- some charge this 75-100
3. Domain name - 10 per year (standard)
4. monthly hosting (10 - 30 per month) Footbridge charges allot more

Now my site is easily worth over a grand.. YES my designer definitely took care of me on the design and the hosting is cheap too. So what if I gave him a plug.. I was happy to share this info with my contractor colleagues.

Re: How To Get A FREE Website..

OK.. lets look at it this way "Cole" & "Tinner66"
Design = FREE (this took him 2 weeks) my savings 1000
Setup charge 150- a small charge.. who cares
Hosting fee = under 30 - some charge more some less - but he maintains the site and saves me time

Not one of you guys will do a small painting job for free to promote your business.. will you?

Don't fret! You have a nice site. My comments were tongue in cheek.

I tinker with my sites during TV commercials since my hands, eyes, and mind go into idle during them, so it's easy for me to DIY.
