Dress pants, button up long sleeve shirt, polished shoes. Once in a while I will throw on a tie and a jacket.

Re: How Do You Dress For Sales Calls?

If I show up at a customers home or business, i look like I do on my job sites. Levi's and tee or shirt, work boots. I am not out looking for work, they find me. And I agree with the idea, everyone will have a different opinion, but I am not dressing up to go over details of a steel building or a roof dressed like I will have lunch at the Sage Room.

Re: How Do You Dress For Sales Calls?

I just kind of depends upon when it is and if I think I need the work or not... Most of the time I shower and shave at least the morning of (instead of the night before) I wear jeans (no stains or holes) and a t shirt (company) and sometime the work boots go on and sometimes just shoes. I have gone in work clothes and work boots before.

Enough detail... lol

Point is, dress according to the situation. It makes a statement of who you are.

Re: How Do You Dress For Sales Calls?

Of course not, heels with the skirts, flats with the pantsuits, boots with the jeans. Matching purses of course. haha

The stilletto's are reserved for the after hours meetings with the banker you mentioned.

Re: How Do You Dress For Sales Calls?

Since I know nothing about my clients show up dressed the same way everytime. Once I meat them I go back to my car and ad to my costume.
Gangsta rapper--place a joint in my mouth
farmer--place redman or skoal in my mouth
banker--place a dollar in my mouth
tradesperson--all 3 of the above in my mouth

Re: How Do You Dress For Sales Calls?

I usually show up in my work pants which shows yes I am a painter. However I toss on my clean shoes & shirt so I'm not too dirty or track crap in their house.

Re: How Do You Dress For Sales Calls?

If I haven't met them before then I will usually wear fairly casual stuff but with a clean shirt and a necktie, usually one my wife made for me from material printed with various cartoon cats. This is a nice combination of my demonstrating that I am concerned enough with their opinion of me to make an effort, with a friendly and casual element as well, to put them at their ease

Re: How Do You Dress For Sales Calls?

If the estimate is on the weekend, or other non field day, clean jeans, sneakers, and a nice button shirt. After work I try to at least change my shirt into a clean gray tshirt, but I always load up on the deoderant.
