How Are Contractors Dealing With Floods?
Every night I see the flood damage out there going on. How are the contractors in those area's dealing with it?
Is there anything the rest of us out here can do to help you guys. Any products you need? Do not be afraid to ask for help you would be surprised the real power of this forum. I was in hurricane Charlie in Florida and if you have never lived it you can not believe the devastion. Jeb Bush and his team did a great job for our state but it also takes a ton of hard working people to come togeather to make the real difference. Good luck and our prayers with you all. |

Re: How Are Contractors Dealing With Floods?
I don't think it's a big deal really. The clean up people are doing a raging business. I understand that the servicemaster types get $2500 to pump out and dry up a basement. Funny thing is, this may only last until the next rain.
We were real short on sump pumps in Des Moines, and we didn't even get hit hard. This weekend, I had to hit 3 stores to find some 1 1/2" PVC pipe. Most of the stuff going to landfills is probably stuff which has been sitting and rotting on basement floors for 15 years. |

Re: How Are Contractors Dealing With Floods?
It's a mess.
I live 10 min from what was Lake Delton, that would be where the houses were floating away after the river redirected. We have been busy in the wake of the flood, but my guys asked if we could help so we filled and delivered sandbags for the salvation army for days while the water came up. I'll probably break even with the new work load. On the plus side, all these years I had been getting sh!t from the local troopers about the big tires and lifted trucks that I (ahem) need for the business... you should have seen how cool they thought it was when we pulled up and offered to deliver bags across flooded roads, through fields, over trees. I even got to winch out an army duck.
