Holiday Mailers

Are people starting to send out mailings to their past customers on their referral program yet?

We sent out Happy Holiday letters with coupons and reminders of our referral program incentives.

Got one call for a kitchen backsplash.
But don't think we'll get the job cus the homeowner doesn't want to wait til the end of January to do the job. Think she's trying to get it done before people show up for Christmas.

But at least we got a call. Keeping in touch with past customers works!

Re: Holiday Mailers

We do this every year. It's a happy Thanksgiving letter with our annual past customer sale. This year we sent out just over 1100 leatters and sold 5 jobs. Most jobs are small (between $2K and $6K) but one of the jobs was a $28K sunroom

We mail our past customers 4 times per year. Last year we sold $1,400,000 to past customers and referrals

Re: Holiday Mailers

We've been netting just over $3,000,000 since 2003
It's been steady but no real growth to speak of. We will be pushing a lot harder in 2008. We had a drop in revenue in 2007 and we need to get back on track. (we have been averaging 37% referral and past customer business for the last 4 years)

As far as gross numbers go...................who cares......NET is the only thing that truly matters.

Its great to see there is light at the end of the tunnel Marc. The only reason I said gross is because I thought you were referring to gross profits in your above post. How many people work for you to achieve those numbers Marc?

Re: Holiday Mailers

we mail out holiday cards every year. We include a letter to keep them informed of the updates at the company. we work on referrals and repeat customers for the most part. this year we are mailing out over 2000. more or less it is just to keep us on their minds for work. I figure a few jobs will pay for the 4k investment.

Re: Holiday Mailers

I always sent thank you cards during Thanksgiving. I wasn't competing with all the Christmas cards and junk mail.

The card just said "Thank You for Your Trust in Us". Inside was a gift certificate for $100 that they could use or give away for the upcoming Christmas. There was a minimum purchase required and a January deadline.

It was simple and effective.

At this time we have 6 empoyees (including myself)
4 sales people (2 of us also do other things like office management and marketing)
1 production manager
1 part time office girl.

Production is 100% subcontracted out.
We do siding, windows and sunrooms.

The nice part about subs and specialty work is that I know what my profit will be the day we sell the job. All of the subs are piece meal so it doesn't matter to me if the job takes 4 days or 10 days. (the pay is the same)
