Here's How A Roofer Overcame The Recession

Bob Kruhm, publisher of Charlotte Construction News and Triangle/Triad Construction News in North Carolina, has blogged about the way Charlotte roofer Edward "Ned" Arthur's H&S Roofing managed to overcome the sharp recessionary business slump through effective publicity and networking. Bob quotes a Charlotte Observer article telling the success story, and relates his connection/meeting with Arthur at an American Subcontractors' Association meeting in Charlotte.
I really like this story because it shows how there is hope and opportunity out there. If your business really was good in the good times (and delivered value and treated your clients properly), you may not have needed to do much if anything in the way of business promotion or marketing. The good news is that while you now may need to reach out for the business, your chances of success in finding the business are excellent. I've posted previously in my blog, "The 80/20 Rule -- Surviving (even thriving) During A Recession" about how, even in the most difficult conditions, some people will need your services -- and if you are among the best in the good times, you will still have a valid market in difficult conditions.

Yes they are but only if you do it right and goooo after it. We are having our best summer in a long time. Why?

Because everyone else is crying doom and gloom and not spending any money on marketing and we are taking market share by storm.

Our magazine, radio,TV,direct mail, referral program, website etc this is how you have the best months sales ever and in the middle of summer.

Hey believe it or not marketing is not a dirty word. Get a plan and test it then roll it out and count the money. Priceless
