Help With My Business Name

Hi all,

I wanted to ask this question in the business forum instead of the painting forum since its more of a business related question. I am beginning to get more business so I need to come up with a business name for my painting company. Well its only a one man show right now, but its growing, so I need to start somewhere right?

Well I am needing a business name. I want something that stands out from the rest. I don't want something humorous or anything, but something along the lines of classy or displaying quality. Does that make sense? I don't really want to use the word upscale, but something that sounds real nice. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Any help is appreciated.

Kenneth

I like Precision Painting too, two reasons, first that it's alliterative and therefore catchy and second it suggests that the paint is going to go where it should and not where it shouldn't, something that is bound to be important to potential customers

Re: Help With My Business Name

"Sober Painters" ......

Sorry, I just couldn't help it.

Seriously.... When putting a name on your business you should have some thought as to what size you want to grow. You then can think of a name that is media friendly if you want to go large. A name and your advertising media should be connected. Keeping it simple is important.

If you are planning on staying small to where you need to be more personable, then sometimes using your own name helps pick up jobs. If your name is plastered on your trucks and are well known around town, then when you are meeting someone, they may ask you if you are the "Paint Guy." A conversation is started and hopefully you walk away with a lead.

"Paint Brush Pro's"

" Pretty Painter Boys" [Just kidding]

I noticed a van once that had multi colored paint all over it..... It looked as if the paint guys cleaned their brushes on it.. but it was done more organized then that. It was very clean looking. It was obvious that he did it himself and did not have a high dollor paintjob done. However, in the middle of the all the erratic paint was a very clean sign as to who they were and what they did.
The conversation with the guy revealed that his van was known all over town. One advanage he had with this set-up was that he could use older rustfree vans that were more cost efficient to use.
He used his van to market who he was.
People in town came to associate him and his van. He never had to advertise and could keep 3 guys busy during the paint season.
Brilliant for a man who wanted to stay small.

Re: Help With My Business Name

I would use your name. First or last, something with your name shows that you care about your company and that you know that anything you do is directly attached to you. I (personally) feel that anyone can say "best painting", "pro painting", "great painting", "lighthouse painting", etc....no offense against those who have commented

I use my last name. It makes me proud that people know who is driving my van and who is doing the work. I also wanted a company name, so I can have a family business, if my children desire. I actually laughed the other day when I saw a company called, "excellent painting"...it's just so generic and blah-who is the owner? what's his name?

Re: Help With My Business Name

Not a name that has two words that both start with "p"
Pee Pee painting?, what will you use for paint?

If you ever went for a easy web site like changing Texas Style Painters to www.tsp.com yours would read www.pp.com.

my 2 cents...

If you ever want to sell your (successful) company then having it named "Bob Zelicki's Painting" is a problem. Just a thought...

Check with your sec of state and see if the name is available.
My first choice for a company name was already taken.
There are so many painters that most of the obviously good names will be used.
Not to burst your bubble or anything.
But if it is available, at least it will sound like it's been around for a long time....
good luck
