Has Anyone Used Pay Per Inquiry Advertising

I have been doing some research on Pay Per Inquiry Advertising. And, this seems to be a way for advertisers to share the risk in advertising. I'm other people have had experiences when an advertiser come in and tells you that his advertising is the best thing in the world. So, you sign a contract and get nothing but a bill.

I have got dedicated 800 numbers and a call tracking service (which is cheap). This will track calls that come to that 800 number that will only be used with that particular advertisers advertisement. And, I will only pay for the phone calls, from different numbers, that are over a minute. And, you negotiate a per lead cost up front and only pay for what you get. I look at it this way, if they say they are so great then prove it. They might even get more than they would have if there advertising works great because if they generate a lot leads they are getting paid by the lead.

I have been pitching this to all of the advertisers that are calling me. I feel that it is a good time to pitch this idea because advertisers are really looking for business right now. And, if they have nothing what do they have to lose.

I know of other companies that have great success with this type of approach. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has had success with this approach. And, any tips would greatly be appreciated.

Re: Has Anyone Used Pay Per Inquiry Advertising

Jake,

A couple of years ago we pre-paid for a pay-per-call service but I can't think of the company. They ran ads all over the place and the idea was that we paid only if people called. We got a bunch of calls from people in Florida looking to pay their rent---so we had them use a different 800# and then we got more bogus calls. This went on for months until we just gave up and walked away from it. I like the whole idea but in did not work with the company that we tried it with.
