Good thinking on posting Mike Gorman's link :
I apparently can't post the link until I post something 15 times. This is stupid. I will write a few more things until I can post it. But if you google TechKnowledge (.net) he might show up...

We bought his book and have read this. It is insightful. Very interesting stuff...

Here is themain link.

http://www.techknowledgeonline.net/

Here is the link to his price list page.

http://www.techknowledgeonline.net/page8.html

Here is the link to his Seminar Calendar.

http://www.techknowledgeonline.net/page4.html

He seems to have good topics that would be interesting to learn from.

How was the book and what did you learn from it?

Of all the continuing GC education I have had to take over the past 25 years, online and sit-in classes, I have to say that Mike's was the absolute best investment I've made. He not only has some exciting and workable ideas for marketing and bidding, but his is an entertaining course.

So, from your experience, which of the products would make the most sense, or deliver the most Bang For The Buck, for someone new to his line of thinking, that they should consider purchasing?

Re: Has Anyone Been To Mike Gorman Seminar?

Well, I didn't particularly like the estimating program, but some people seem to. I did like the RemodelMax Unit cost database and the Overhead Calculator. The forms Library was informative.

Since I just took his continuing education two-day seminar to fulfil the State requirements for my license, I only have what was included in the course. But I think if I was to, straight out, purchase any of his products, I think it would be what he calls "The Book" for $75. Some of the other stuff seems a little pricey to me.

But if you need anything he offers for your license requirements, I would recommend his course over anything else I've ever taken... and I've taken over 12 courses. You walk away actually feeling like you honestly got something for your money other than a check mark on a State form.

Re: Has Anyone Been To Mike Gorman Seminar?

The book has been a real eye-opener about how to sell your product which is your self and your work. I am trained as an architect but find the building so so so much more exciting and REAL, so all my history has been lacking in the business department. His book covers a lot of this and it is ALL related to the remodeling/building industry. I had a question on the "Profit Booster" (a book Mike Gorman teached you how to build...step by step, to take with you on the inital meeting including examples of the documents -it is VERY helpful!!) so I e-mailed Mike about it. The next morning he called my cell phone personally to go over all the details. Needless to say, I was impressed. I NEED to get to one of his classes!

I thank you both for the depth of your commentery, which should help anyone else reading this thread, including myself.

I need to do a bit more reading, but I want to be selective, since time is always scarce.

Re: Has Anyone Been To Mike Gorman Seminar?

Went to his class today for my continuing education. Nice guy, and informative. Pushes marketing and sales to nothing I've seen or heard before. The remodelmax prices are pretty steep. The software is priced fine and the subscription, but I don't think many customers will pay the prices.

Ed, did you get to go to any of his classes?
